Supercharged Expys

Hello. I am on several other forums but just joined this one. I have a 2000 Expedition XLT 4wd that I did a lightning conversion on.

Would like to hear from others here that have supercharged expeditions/navigators. And does anyone besides me race their expys at the track??

Hmmm. No signatures here? Been unable to put any vehicle info in.

Well.. I have 2000 Ford Expedition XLT 4wd. It was stock until this past summer. I installed a MHP built motor with Trick Flow 44cc track heat heads, stage 1 cam (mild), Lighting upper supercharger assembly, custom stainless dual 3" exhaust and more.

Currently running 11psi boost with more to come. Plan to test the limits of the Expy.

Did not video any track runs yet. Plan to get some next season. Have a video I took this past December on the street.

Blown expedition 4wd launch - YouTube

I am not new to drag racing as I have an 10 second 89 LX Mustang. But new to racing the expy.

Click user cp and that will give you the option of editing your signature. I have been running a Vortech with after-cooler for a number of years, although not for drag racing. Once all the supporting mods and a tune was done it became a whole different vehicle. I am running 12.5 pounds of boost. I also have a similar setup on a 96 Mustang GT vert.

Do not have signature option in my user CP.

That combo is identical to my mustang...lol. Vortech V2 SQ with 12 psi boost with aftercooler. Love it!! Chose to go the lightning route with the Expy mainly due to a "take off" lightning upper supercharger assembly I purchased off of ebay several years back. Just decided to install it this past summer and went a little overboard with it..

Now I kind of wish I had a centi kit for it but the kits have long since discontinued for the 1st gen expys. Much more variety of blower head units to choose from and the potential would be much greater. With my set up as it is the whipple 2.3 is my next logical step.

Do you have any photos or threads of your build/expy? Would love to check it out.

Hey, for your signature- you don't have the option 'edit signature' under settings and options in User CP? Because I do.

Guess I can give a run down on my mods..Can't post any photos yet.

Again I have MHP built short block with Trick Flow 44cc track heat heads (box stock with mild port match on intake). Comp cams 12500 "stage one" cams. Lighting upper supercharger assembly, home ported blower, intake and plenum. (Very mild) SCT BA 2600. 6# crank pulley netting me about 11psi boost with my setup. Ceramic coated 1 5/8" shorties with custom dual 3" stainless exhaust with high flow cats. Killer Chiller system. Fluidyne heat exchanger. Stealth 340lph intank fuel pump. A few other minor items and stock tranny (4R100), converter, 4wd, and gears.

Been a while since I have done any mods to my Expedition, use it mostly for my business towing etc. Just bought a 75mm bbk throttle body on ebay since it was kind of a bottle neck in the intake system. Been spending alot more time playing with my mustang.

It has been to the track several times since the build was completed but still working out minor bugs. Everytime I took it to the track I just used my stock tires and 4wd. 1st day did not go so well. It was pulling power and not recovering from the full throttle shifts. Still ran low 14's @ 96ish but I knew there was much more in it as it sat. Next time at the track tried some changes in the tune and raised shift point. Same issue!! Decided to lift on the shifts as it did not have the problem on the street with normal driving. It worked and responded with mid to high 13's @ 99ish. Still there was a lot more in it as I was lifting on the shifts?!

Changed mass air sensor and tune and on the street it seemed to cure the shift issues. Next time at the track, right off the street it broke into the 12's on its 1st pass!! I had a big silly grin on my face the rest of the day..lol. I think I was happier than when my mustang broke into the 10's. This is after all a 3 ton Expy..lol.

So far my best pass is a 12.88 @ 104.45. I hope to improve on it next season and may make a run for the 11's.

Doing the opposite. Mustang has been sitting and playing with my expy.

I did take a trip to the outerbanks towing my boat this past summer and it did well. Fully loaded, heavy stop and go traffic with 95+ deg temps. 6-8hr trip. Wanted badly to punch it off the line once towing the boat but resisted..lol. Did not want to test the limits of my stock tranny..
