Hello guys, I was wonderin if trucks without cab lights had the wiring in place? I am lookin at a 81 150 it doesnt have cab lights and i think these trucks look better with them Thanks Jason
I would seriously doubt it. Ford didn't put anything extra in the trucks that wasn't necessary. I do agree I like the look of the cab lights and I was lucky enough to get a truck that already had them. I'm sure it's not too hard to run the wires through the roof though.
Thanks for reply, I have put them on a 90 model once, But i guess i can do the same on this one, was thinkin of putin a lighted visor on it but i think lights will be cheaper lol.
It's easy if the truck has a headliner, our trucks that came without one have a second sheet of steel on the inside and will look like crap unless you put a headliner in it. But as far as the wiring goes, from my understanding our trucks are wired for all the options minues maybe the wiring harness that the options might need if the truck was factory without it.
If you're talking about the 5 orange things on the top of the roof, YES, some of the wiring is in place for them!
There is a connector for them behind the driver's side kick panel behind the parking brake... single brown wire fed by the headlight ****, is energized when the **** is pulled out at least halfway.
The connector is gray plastic and looks like the one(s) in the engine compartment right by the steering column & brake cylinder (but with different-colored wires).
Same circuit that feeds the marker lamps on the corners and the rear license plate illumination lamps.
You'll have to feed the additional wiring up behind the plastic trim of the A pillar and between the two roof panels from there.

Sorry, I hadn't thought of the connector by the kick panel. I was just thinking of the wiring through the roof. There should be a hole toward the top of the pillar to feed the wires through I would think, then all it would take is drilling holes and using a wire snake to pull them through.
