I always try to throw an out the door number at them and make them do the math. I'd throw a number like $25k out the door. Thats just the way I try to deal, that way I have a good idea on what I'm financing without watching that price fly up with taxes, tags and such.
now I wonder if I already have arp studs or still need to get some.
You can tell by looking at the engine, up along the valve cover. The arp studs have a 12pt nut on them, and maybe 1/8" of thread visible above the nut.
Someone will post a pic I'm sure. There's a thread buried on this site somewhere that has a side-by-side of both types installed.

I like the way you think. Nice to get a price where they can't tack on extra BS fees.

Thanks, I will try to find the thread and since it's a beautiful weekend this week I'll check this out....Hoping someone already did the dirty on this.
Harley Davidson edition ford superduties are also in 2005,6,7 and so forth.. So you may want to look at those, but 66k miles for a 2004 is very low.. Think you can save a few grand with their asking price.. good luck
The price seems awful steep when I compare it to everything else up here in Alberta Canada. You can get a Lariat 08 quad cab for $28,000 with just over 100,000 km (62,000 miles). That much for an 04 is a lot. Harley or not. Lets face it, the 6.0 doesn't have a good reputation. The prices up here really reflect that. Don't get me wrong though - I love my 6.0
Ok so the opinion is that its a bit much and I have pretty truck syndrome, lol. This wont be a total pavement pounder, ill take it out into the woods and such, but im gonna keep it a nice truck no matter what I get, I just want a nice newer truck, while im single and don't have any bills. And Mark, your right that I want a truck that'll be me, and that 04 is me, all it needs is some road rhino bumpers lol
So if I were to get financing for this truck, how much should I offer?
Financing a used 6.0... I can not think of a worse financial situation to be in. Let's say you get hit with a $1500 - $3,000 repair bill on top of your monthly payment. If you can do that without blinking, what the hell, it is your money. But if you do not need a heavy pick up and those number would mean that you are walking, I'd recommend thinking long and hard about what is in your best interest.
[insert the usual "but I love my 6.0" disclaimer here].

Well that is what I want out of a newer truck lifted and nice, but im not dead set on this truck, if I don't get it oh well, but I am gonna get a newer tuck regardless. And I could get a 3k bill with a new truck if I have a bad run of luck. This is also an exercise of building my credit, as I want a house also... but buying an already lifted truck is great because I have little time during the month to build a truck...idk ill end up with someting but I have other options besides walking, just none of my trucks look that good lol
I bought my excursion to build credit so I could buy a house. I had zero credit history and they said I couldn't buy that way, so I went out and bought my truck for 12k, made my payments for 6 months, then paid it off. Sure it was used but I didn't need to blow 50-60k on a new truck. I love the thing, though.
That being said, the price is very steep for an 04 with 6.0. kbb puts my truck at 19-22k, now, 4 years after I bought it. They started with a 17999 tag and I was 12k "out the door". I had a lady salesman, on the test drive I fiddled with the accelerator and made it miss a few times. It lurched around and i looked over at her and she had turned white. I said "well that's not good..." We got back and I crawled all over it and said "you have that one over there, same truck for 19,999, in perfect shape, this one has dings, the brake controller has been cut off at the back, and there's that huge miss and who knows what that issue was. You aren't offering any warranty with it, so I could leave here and have it explode down the street and I'd be out of luck. I'll do 12k, and 2500 for my 98 expedition trade in(the frame was completely rusted/gone, brake lines rusted, etc. was not a pretty sight under neath)."
The lady said she'd talk to her boss, i sat in the waiting room for about an hour until she came back with a strew of paperwork and numbers. She got to where I wanted, and I was happy. Don't pay more than you want to pay. Have a number in your head and be prepared to walk away. I also paid my truck off a week after I settled on my house. 18% APY because i had no credit? I think not.
I know that the 6.0s have a horrid rep, but if you fix the common issues, they sound like their alright, I've haerd issues with the 6.4's and the new 6.7's, but a new truck is best lol
There are some issues that need to be addressed with the 6.0L; but on the same token there have been a couple of folks posting both here and at PSN that they've got 300k on the orginal oil cooler, EGR cooler and injectors. So I think part of it is just keeping up with the maintenice like Ford spells it out in the manual. With that said, if you haven't done a little forum searching as far as what to look for....
*White residue around the degas cap
*Oily liquid in the EGR valve cavity
*Chocolate milkshake looking coolant in the degas bottle
*Hard to start when cold
*Hard to start when warm/hot
Those are the common things you can check without a code reader. A ScanGauge II is an invaluable tool when it comes to code reading on the fly/down low.
Ok idk yet if I can get financing, I might just have to save up a fat down before I can actually get a truck, but Im pretty sure imma get the harley davidson edition even though they are more than the other trucks.. did they ever come with a manual?
