Have you noticed that you almost never see a Ford commercial on TV? On the other hand, there are GM commercials, Nissan commercials, etc. on all the time.
That is because Ford already sells so many trucks it's hard for them to keep up. So why spend extra $$$ on advertising?
For Ford, there really is no competition. I think it is intersting that since 1977, Ford has outsold them all...and for 25+ years the other companies have been trying to find ways to catch up and they still haven't done it.
However, GM and Dodge are both starting to get a little closer. Looks to me like within this decade we'll see sales from those companies finally equal that of Ford. Could it finally happen?
My friends tell me that if I were to get cut I'd bleed Ford Blue. So I may be a little biased. But you are right - Ford doesn't need to make the "mud-truck" commercials. I'd like to see the actual taping of some of those ridiculous commercials. Like the one with the quad steer and he's backing the horse trailer - it is cleverly edited to make it look so easy, yet the truck and trailer are pointing different directions with each scene change.
I do, however, LOVE the Ford / Chevy trailer pulling drag race commercial. I think they did it just to mess with Chevy guys- because Chevy guys obviously believe what they see on TV...
I can say that I have never seen a dodge or chevy on TV with a flying plane behind it If you take a close look at the shift indicator on the truck in that commerical it is not the same as the trucks with the 5spd auto I thought they had the 6.0's with the new tranny at that time.
Although I am a very happy F-150 owner,I can honestly say
that my 91 Dakota 318cu. auto was one of the best smaller
trucks i had ever owned. i put 146,000 on it with only a water
pump at 74,000. I traded for a new 2000 Dakota 4.7 4x4 auto
which was the biggest mistake of my life.althought the 4.7
is not a bad motor we all know of the tranny nightmares
and i was a victim.Besides the occasional tcm reprogram
dodge did absolutly nothing to rectify the problem, although
i could say the same about fords response to the door cracking issue. all in all, ford has a better product than dodge and that
is a fact.........Dave
