hey can some people please post pics of there 1978 thru 1979 f150s sitting on 37s thru 44s so i can get an idea of what my truck will look like also can you put what size lift and gears you are using thank you
I am going to get a lift some time can't wait to see peoples trucks. I don't think people put that big of tires on the f150's so you might not get many participants.
44's 12" suspension , 3" body lift , bushwacker cut out flares
oh yeah, shortbed also, 4.56 gears , the 44's came with 15x10 (chrome wheels) I switched to 15x14 (black wheels)
44x18.5x15 Gumbo Mudders, tires were balanced, daily drove for 2 years, all mud pits (not rock crawling), broke a rear driveshaft
and drove home 45 miles with just the front axle locked, bone stock 400 2 barrel with headers, ran great got 12mpg !
78 F150 short bed. 9" skyjacker suspension. 39" super swampers on 15x12 wheels. 9" rear, dana 44" front both with 5:13 gears and lockers. 429 Big block 4 speed tranny. Runs great, no problems. Just got a redhead gear box in the mail. Cant wait to install. Got a pair of Dana 60's also waiting to go under the truck soon.
+ 4 on 35-inch Goodyears...D44/Ford 9 with stock 3.54 and 3.50, respectively.
That camo looks pretty badass on your truck. I was thinking about spraying my grill shell in satin paint like you did and going with chrome grille and bezels, not sure on the bumper yet. what did you paint it in, SEM trim black?

Thanks! Painting it was a true research/science project... I visited the local woodlands and took pictures of the scenery with its shades and shadows. I shot a fender then walked like 75 feet away and squinted at the panel so see if the pattern broke up the silhouette. Success.
The camo is Krylon's Camo paint series ($3.97 a can at Walmart). The bumpers, grill, etc. is Krylon semi-flat Black 1613 - sometimes it is labeled satin black. If ya wanna see how I did the grill insert paint, visit this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...technique.html
