I'm considering changing from bypass to full filtration as filter blockage is a non issue for me (see photo below) I've got over 1k miles on my whole house sediment filter with no problems.

If you go inline filtration and the filter should plug, your going to overheat.

I could be mistaken, but when in AC max, the circuit is shut off. Maybe I'm wrong on this.

That's a good looking filter right there...did you put that together yourself?

Thanks! This is a work in progress. I scrounged this set-up together from various places like home depot and walmart and Napa Auto parts for the hoses. This is a 10" whole house filter. $35 at Walmart.

I just changed the filter today actually and was happy to find only about 1 table spoon of rust.

The filters that come with the housing are not compatable with the temperatures involved, so I'm looking for the correct replacement cartridge filter.

If anyone has suggestions I'm open. I found a good selection from Mcmaster Carr but I'm not sure which is the best choice.

McMaster-Carr

I'm thinking of trying the Polyester/Type 304 Stainless Steel raTED FOR 275*F

If anyone wants to try this you must use silicone grease on the o-ring or it will leak. The clear poly part of the housing has micro heat cracks but seem superficial at the moment.

Does that mean you will always be in a/c max?

Not at all. I'm just saying I believe there is no risk of overheating by running my setup as full filtration with no bypass. I could be mistaken on the circuit involved.

He is filtering the full flow of the heater core. If the filter plugs then it is going to have no heat.

Yes sir, and no risk of overheating, actually more coolant flowing to the Oil cooler. Correct?

Gene, wether I'm right or wrong that system is impressive looking.
