Which sensor?

Upon doing the R&R on my FICM, I noticed a sensor that is bolted to the front FICM bracket, and connects to a stainless steel tube that runs into the L\S exhaust manifold. Which sensor is this? Is it worth replacing since it's easy to do at this point?

That sensor is the exhaust backpressure sensor. As far as replacing it, mine is out and fixing to be replaced but the way I found out was on my scanguage 2 the exhaust backpressure reading was half what the baro and map pressure read at key on engine off, these 3 should all read the same within .5. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have the FICM out andwith the bracketry and airbox removed it's a clean shot to the sensor now. I won't be able to use ScanGauge like you did until I restart the engine after I reinstall all that crap. Is that sensor a high failure item, and does it make sense to replace it now?

It's not a high failure item but they do have a higher failure rate than the CPS sensors. I'd only replace it "on demand".

I would clean it, tube & fitting. I used brake cleaner, Q-tips & a wire. Don't poke into sensor too far.

Mike

You Dont Check it with the engine running

Check it at KOEO=Key On Engine Off

You dont even need the FICM in to check it the EBP just needs to be pluged up to the wire harnesss

Now you will set a CEL if you turn the KEY ON with the FICM out but thats no Biggie should turn off when you get it back in

I would check it B4 I would replace it
