My wife and I are discussing purchasing a new Fifth Wheel for our family outings. I have found just a few and would like to see what you opinions are on these. Also, does anyone think I will have an issue with towing capacities being exceeded? I think I should be ok with any of these.
I like rear or front living personally, actually my next rig will likely be front living 5th wheel, I really like them. So I voted for #3, like the layout.
Sorry for not posting them. I just updated my Signature. I have a set of Firestone Airbags that haven't been installed yet, not sure if I'll need them given the enhancements I've already put on the truck. I've loaded well over 3000lbs of stone in the back and the truck is rock solid. The combination of the Timbrens and the AAL really make it haul well.
Based on the Large badge I assume 6.7 Diesel, I don't think you will have an issue with a 10,000 lb 5th wheel dry. Not sure what the pin weight you would have left, for rear axle rating.
im assuming you like the bunk house plans because of kids? how old are they? bunk house plans are nice but if the kids wont be home much longer than go with the plan your wife chose. i went through the same thing last year. i have lil ones still so the bunk house made more sense.
good luck on your purchase!
We have a 16yr old daughter (who Just started driving I might add....scary) anyways, yeah, we wanted something that would work for us for the next 5+ years as well.
I like option 2 and 3. I voted for #2 because #3 reminded me of the family truckster from National Lampoon's Vacation. I dont know much about TT's though. When we camp we're only indoors if it rains or when we sleep, so our primary focus has been on the outside toys.
I'd get what makes the wife happy. Happy wife=happy life. haha. They're all perrty dang sweet.
I have one almost identical to option 2 and we absolutely love it. My kids are 9 and 4 though, makes sense for us. I really like having the bedroom in the back for the headroom and space, kids stuff can crowd the fifth wheel deck!
But for you with an older child (adult) I would stay away from bunk houses and just have a decent bedroom for your daughter. Only thing about bunkhouses is that they are good for selling in the future.
I like 3 because if you do "back in" sites, so many times that is where the scenery is. Futher from the traffic that campgrounds sometimes have. Our ramp door has cables that hold it flat to form a patio with an awning, and we have loved back in spaces over a pull thru. We just unload the bike before backing in, and park the bike under the nose. Yes your truck will handle that pin weight with no problem.
