how ya doin guys...is there any possible way of reclining the bench seat in a 2001 F-350 XL...i had to go out plowing the other day and sitting upright for so long really took a toll on my lower back...went to get some stuff done with my father who has a 2000 F-350 XLT and even he was complaining of how uncomfortable it is. I know the lever on the passenger side is there but it only shoots the bench seat forward. I tried sitting closer the steering wheel and that didnt help much either...NEED HELP PLEASE!
Not without refabricating it or replacing it with seats out of another truck. If the padding is really worn down in it, it will effect the comfort of it. I never realized it until lately but both my trucks have bench seats and noticed my 2000 always fatigued me really bad after a long drive. Now that I have the 2001, i now know the padding is worn out in my 2000. The 2001 is more comfortable and I sit taller in it that in my other one. I am either going to replace it or have it rebuilt. IF the interiors were the same color, i would just swap the seats.
No way to recline a bench seat. It puts too much stress on the seat and the extra leverage and weight of having an entire back part of the seat would break the frame. You could fab one though.
Is it a regular cab? Does a regular cab have enough room to recline the seat in the first place? If so, a 60/40 like I have in my SD reclines very well. A junkyard might be a good place to start looking...
My post is a direct reflection of the seat frames in 99-04 SD trucks. Your frame reclines because it was redisgned and strengthened where it needed to be. It can be done but not without a welder and some tubing in the frame in the 99-04 trucks.
