I have been in the process of reassembling my 87 flareside after a body off restoration. I need some advice on how to align the fenders, doors, and hood. I can get the fenders "straight" then the hood doesn't fit. I can get the hood to fit and then the doors and fenders do not match. Looking for some advice / tips on how to do this.
thanks
do the doors 1st, get them where they open and close nice and the gaps are nice. then get the gaps at the fender/door area done leave the front of the fender loose, now throw the hood on and make any further adjustments mesauing the back edge of the fender to the opposite sides front fender edge is a good way as well to make sure the fenders/coresupport are square with the rest of the cab. btw, tape your edges!
thanks jk89cat a lot for the help. should have taped first. with the back of the fender at the door adjusted and tight will the front still move enough to allow adjustment?
yes , just bolt the fender snug at the top, using 1 bolt . leave the middle bolt out(doorjamb) and just snug the bottom bolt. it will be easier that way .
