Standard brand is usually decent quality stuff. Never used their gearsets. Were they that much cheaper than other well known brands?

well on bronco graveyard there is about 60 dollars difference between the yukon and the usa standard sets but on rock auto the usa standard is about 100 dollars cheaper than the yukon

im thinking about just going ahead with the usa standard on rockauto.com i was just wondering about the whine and the quality

ill be doing the gear swap myself. and are you talking about cause it says for keeping cost low and not recommended for quiet running vehicles.

my truck is lifted 10 inches on 36 tsl's so i really need to regear since it still has 3.08's and i was honestly wondering how usa standard holds up. i can get both 4.88 gear sets for about 350 dollars. this would not be a daily driver just weekend and stuff so wouldnt get too many miles

That's a gutless combo..the 3.08s and 36"s behind a 302 i mean. You're going to lose MPGs like you wouldnt even believe though. I would check out summit and Jegs for sure.

This is your daily driver right? I really wouldn't put anything bigger than 4.11s behind it honestly...
But if you really want to put 4.88s, I've heard good things about Usa Standard. My buddy has a 514 CI Stroker motor in a pulling truck that's pushing 600 horse and they lasted through that punishment.

im going to go ahead and order both sets of 4.88s

edit: this is not my daily driver and with the 36 inch tsl's and heavy steel wheels i figured 4.88's would be better but i dont know do you think that would be too much gear?? and i might be getting 39.5 tsl's soon

Oh well that changes things then. If you're going that big, by all means, put 4.88s on her. That's kind of overkill for just 36", but that should feel a lot better behind something that close to 40"s.

Probably not so much with a 5.0 under the hood. 4.88s and 36" tires is equavelent to 3.93 with the stock 29" tire..which isn't far off the ideal of a 3.73:1 final dive ratio. Strap 39's on it and you're down to about 3.6:1 which is a bit under geared for a small V8 like this.

I'd go with 5.13 or better. Especially for a 5.slow

i agree with 5.13's. i currently run 4.88's with my 35" at's and if i went to any taller tire with more aggresive tread the grearing is crucial.

with my setup running the e4od i am just under 2500rpms at 70mph

I wouldn't be so worried about ring and pinion gear quality so much as half ton axles and drivelines with 36-40" tires......
