So if the EBT sensor has been removed from the VGT control (basically does nothing) are there any other solenoids or sensors that could be causing the issues (seem to be boost issues based on the sound of the engine/exhaust) that I have listed in my first couple of posts on this thread? Or can I assume that it may be the turbo itself?

It all comes down to being able to monitor what things are doing. It's impossible to guess, which IMHO, is like just being a parts swapper. Useless as teats on a boar hog. Things you can do: Take the truck to a parts store and have it code scanned. Check the MAP sensor and EBP tubes, CAC tubes, and check for an exhaust leak. Pull and clean the turbo. Anything else is a guess that I refuse to make.

Thanks. That is a big help! I will definitely do all of that and post results.

Well looks like maybe i was headed down the wrong track thinking I had a boost problem. I ran two different scanners on the truck last night. The one at O'Reily's showed no codes. So I plugged in a Super Chip programmer to read the DTC's and P02290 (injector control pressure too low) showed up. I am still driving the truck but it has hardly no power. It will barely get to 60mph. It still seems to start ok (usually within 1 - 2 seconds) but seems to "spin" into a start as opposed to "exploding" into a start if that makes sense. I have decided to order the AutoEnginuity Ford Enhanced bundle scanner for my PC (any pro's or con's with this scanner???). Could this still be a sensor issue or am I more than likely looking at an HPOP?

HPOP, HPO leak, or IPR valve. I would check the IPR valve first then procede to an air test of the HPO system which is a bitch on an 03.

I have become pretty good at getting the ICP and IPR valve out on this late 03 build engine. (Even with the engine hot with slightly less than 3rd degree burns on my entire body, LOL, 20 min tops to get them both out). I have a fitting (same as fuel pressure test port) that screws into the ICP port that I can attach a high pressure hose to and 8,000 psi gage. My hose will reach in the cab. The last time I checked the pressure in "no start mode" my pressure was about 1300-1500 psi while cranking (this was about 4 months ago and my FICM ended up being bad). I plan to hook this up again to check pressure while waiting on my AutoEnginutiy Ford Enhanced Bundle Scan Tool to come in. What kind of pressures should I see at the ICP port with the truck idling and at WOT. This will of course be with ICP unplugged.
Also, can I do an air pressure test thru the ICP port?

Idling about 600 psi. WOT up to 4000 psi. ICP port is the only place you can air test it. You'll be able to command the IPR closed with AE or you can hook it to a 12V source for a minute or two.

So to do and air test, I would need to make the valve close with 12v and there should be no air allowed to pass thru the system. With the truck turned and no power to the IPR air should go thru?? Then I can command it shut with 12V and it should theoretically hold pressure without leaking down if I close off the input also. Or is some air leakage normal.
What are the most like areas for leakage on a late 03 build date motor?

Another DTC code popped up when I check this evening. P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit Range/Performance. No chance that this could be causing my lack of power problems?? The P02290 still showed up too. My AE scan tool will be in a few days and hopefully I can get some better data. It starts right up when cold and is lacking power but when it is hot the power loss is way worse. It is also is harder to start when hot. It may spin for 3-5 seconds when hot and sort of spin into a start as opposed to just firing right up.

I think that you might have a couple things going on here

HPO problem
and
Bad egr valve you could try and clean this egr valve or replace it would be more shure Fix

Did you ever check ICP pressure

And check the IPR check the screen to see if its dimpled up inside or ripped,or torn replace if any of these conditions exist

I usually clean my egr valve every 6 months or so and it has never really been that dirty. I will check it again and replace if it is not that dirty. My AE scan tool is on the way, but in the mean time I will put a manual gage on the stc port under the turbo and see what the pressure read. I will post the results. I will also check the IPR.

Sounds like egr valve to me too. Does it smoke when you wot it?? Mine was stuck open partially once and did the same thing yours was doing. Didn't smoke at idle but smoked alot when hammering down with no power.

No smoke at all. Neither at start up or WOT. I will pull out the EGR tonight and check it out. It would be so nice if it was something that simple!!

Here is the latest update. AE scan tool will be in on Monday. In the mean time, I checked and cleaned the EGR valve. It wasn't too dirty and seemed to be closing and sealing good. Fuel pressure is holding at about 52 psi. I pulled the ICP sensor under the turbo and hooked a 5000 psi, liquid filled, calibrated Mcdaniels gage into the ICP sensor port. The pressure climbs to about 1000 psi when the engine starts then drops to about 700-725 psi at idle. Running smooth, not missing and no smoke. Power loss seems to be getting worse. I tried to drive it some with the gage hooked up and the ICP sensor out. The engine has no power at all. Can barely get to 40 mph. The pressure would quickly climb to about 1300 psi when I accelerated, but no higher and no power. Hope to have some good diagnostic data on Monday when I get my AE scan tool. Is this symtoms of a bad HPOP? Leaking STC fittings? Bad IPR?
