Hey guys. One day i drove past this f250 with a cb mounted above the rear view. Just wanted to see if anyone has done this or know how to mount it there?
Get you a 90 deg adapter for the antenna cable. I got mine at radio shack. Then just run the wires tucked up above the headliner. Seems like I had to drill some new holes in the support bracket, but all it took was (2) 1 1/2" X #12 sheet metal screws to hold it up. Pre-drill a smaller pilot hole first and re-tighten the screws after a few weeks since the headliner will compress just a hair.

There's a hollow space between the metal roof and the metal ceiling above your headliner. The wiring for cab lights runs through there. As i mentioned, use #12 sheet metal screws that are 1 1/2" long.
It will screw into the ceiling without poking any holes through the roof.
I found these pics. You can see where I drilled the bracket with some new holes to make things work. I drilled the holes in the top part of the bracket closer in so the drill would fit.
And here's the fitting on the back
And in my search for these pics, I ran across some other threads where I said I used a 1" screw, so now I've seen myself say I used 2 different sizes. I'll try and remember to pull one out tomorrow and measure so I know for sure what length screw I used.
Perfect thank your for the help! One last thing. Where did you tap power for your radio? I figure I could just go to the fuse box and tap into it but I don't want to have three taps (my radar dectore, gauges, and now the cb)
I have my cb mounted in the same spot but I didn't want holes in the headliner. So I bought a "shelf-it". It is basically an extruded piece of aluminum covered with material to match your interior color. It mounts to the same holes as the sun visors so no additional holes and a shelf to put stuff on. It works great I just drilled two holes in it to mount the cb. I did have to fold the rear view mirror up towards the roof and out of the way but I don't use it anyway as I usually have a trailer in tow anyway.
OK, so it looks like I've got #14 x 1" screws holding my bracket in place. I did stick a depth gauge in the hole to see how much clearance there was from my bracket, through the headliner, and through the void before I hit the roof. I measured 2 1/4" so a 1 1/2" screw will work fine also. Just be sure you pre-drill the right size hole.
That's a great idea. I was thinking of something like that. Did it already come with the material?
Yes the material comes already glued on it color matched to your headliner. I will see if I can get a pic and post it when I get home.
I cant seem to figure out how to post pics but if you pm me your email address I can send them that way. Unless someone can give me a quick tutorial on how to post them from my computer.
