My son is has a problem in that the engine will not crank over, he has put on a new starter, starter solenoid and batteries. I was thinking maybe the neutral safety switch for the transmission or is there a fuse or fusable link in this circuit and where do you find them. This is on a 96 F350 dually w/auto. The you Bob
Thank you for posts and I better look at what I am writing, that [the you Bob ] was suppose tobe Thank you Bob. I relayed the message to my son,He and the pickup are about 125 miles from me. I also told him to run a jumper from the battery to the starter soleniod to see if the starter would engage then.
You can lay a screw driver across the 2 large posts on the starter sylinoid and that will jump it as well, but MAKE SURE its in neutral with the E brake on.....been there done that once aha.
This may not be the problem but last week we had a '04 6.0 that cranked real slow with 2 new batt's so we pulled the starter. It was another guy's and the AutoXXXX guy told him the starter was bad, they sold him one and it cranked slow, the 6.0 forum guys on here said take the serpentine belt off in case it was the A/C comp. and BINGO! This was the second time I saw this in 5 years, first time it was a 4 cyl. and it would not turn over.
