ok the dash is ready to come off. the black bracket that holds the ash tray and lighter that wont come off. what holds the black bracket behind the dash that it wont come off. the little black tabs are pulled off but ti wont move at all. thats the only thing holding the dash on. thanks
If it's a '92 or later, there's a screw behind the ash tray mount, in the middle of the ashtray mount, going straight up, supporting the back of the ash tray support.
Feel under the dash, under the ashtray to the back of the ashtray. Right in the middle of the back of the ashtray support there's a screw going straight up. You probably need to move the wiring out of the way. That screw holds the back of the ashtray support to the plastic dash.
If you're removing the whole plastic dash assembly (meaning the piece around the glove box, radio, heater controls, full width of the cab), the ash tray wouldn't prevent that... (the wiring connected to it would have to be disconnected, though)
If that's what you're doing, are you trying to separate it from the heater box & ductwork? If so, there's one screw that connects the heater box to the dash right above the left side of the glove box opening, that you can't get to from inside the cab. That screw head is inside the duct, and accessible by removing the blower & blower box in the engine compartment...
i did fiannly find the screw and the dash is fiannly off. now just have to get the big black peice that the dash mounts to without breaking anything else. thanks for you help. i appretiate it.
