WOW, never like to see that. How'd it happen. Just all of a sudden or playing around. Its just we all hope to get 500K out of these but if it happens, a nice built motor would be nicer.
Chet
no wonder the injector did not help.
that is no fun, hope you get it running soon.
We are on the way to bigger and better - it WILL be fun! Lol. I have your injector ready to return. THANKS AGAIN!
It started missing/running rough on the way home from work one day. CCT/RV indicated #2 was a problem - it was either a bad injector or something worse...
This engine was all original except for water pump and turbo. I did run a van turbo for about 10k miles, but it had stocker when it broke piston. I did use a different tuner for about 70k miles, there is (highly debated) evidence this engine saw alot of timing advance. Among other problems, this may have increased cylinder pressures to unnecessary levels.
This engine has only towed anything significant last 30k miles and it has never seen over 1200* EGT.
It has been burning WVO with a highly modified Vegistroke V3 system for over 100k miles. I suppose a chicken bone coulda caused this, but there was no indication this engine ever saw any 'alternative fuel'.
New engine will sport 300/200 injectors and a GTX 4294 - HP on the mid 600's?
Hey Jason, bummer to see, but just think about all the $$$ you saved, burning VO...
No doubt about it. In fact, WVO literally paid for this vehicle! I was putting $500/mnth of gasoline in a minivan, convinced (now ex-wife) to drive an Excursion to commute to college - then used the gas money to make the payments!
Meanwhile, I don't think we'll find that WVO contributed to this failure. My dually has 150k miles on veg now as well...
I believe a properly modofied PSD can run a full-length life on WVO.
Thanks Joe, I would've liked to see it go another 100k miles - but this way I get to build a KILLER engine!!! Oh, and I've learned a few things about tuning after losing a 2nd engine the same way...

I am sorry you have learned this way. My experance killed the diesel hobby for me. I just dont care anymore.
FYI, junk yard motor, larger injectors, bigger turbo and 20k more miles then the last motor so far...
