I have noticed several times my PS pump seems week and can't turn... Especially backing up a heavy trailer... It's also pretty noisy. I have flushed the pump with new fluid is there a better pump or go back with another Ford. Also how hard is it change? Thanks
i replaced mine when I bought my truck, hardest part is getting that pressure line off, I played hell with it, other than that its a simple remove and replace job, I also put a new serpentine belt on at the same time
202k Thought i might try the Lucas transmission fluid to see if it would thicken the fluid up and work better. Might get a little more out of it...
If your having problems with it, change it before it leaves you stranded in the least desirable location. Don't forget, that pump is also part of your braking system. Don't play el cheapo with it. If the pump grenades internally you could end up also replacing the hydroboost. Big bucks. I also put a Magnefine filter in the return line. Keeps the fluid nice and clean. All you need for fluid is Mercon V. I used the synthetic.
