annoying problems

Hi guys, need help with some problems that need addressing before my truck goes in for it's annual safety check.
1. How do I dismantle the headlight switch for replacement, how do I undo the front bezel without damage? do I need to remove instrument panel??

2. tail/brake light, I thought the bulb had gone when I was told my brake light wasn't coming on, changed the bulb but had the same problem, swapped the bulbs over but worked fine in drivers side, got my son to help, put side lights on and both tail lights worked fine, son pressed brake pedal & passenger side tail light went out & brake light did not come on, drivers side worked fine.. any ideas what I should look for???

3. not related to safety check, need to remove the side trim that covers the "bump" on the bed, how does this come off? is it just carefully prised?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Rich

From: **** hole San Jose ca.
Oh yeah headlight switch. the **** & shaft come out by pushing a little button on the top side of the light switch on the inner dash side. If you know what your feeling for you can do it with out removing the dash. One finger pressing it down in all while you try pulling on the **** and twisting it some times. A lager flat tip screw driver will remove the front bezel. Pull switch and wiring harness down some to remove plug.
Some times the light sockets need to be cleaned as they get loaded with moister and turn them to a chalk like build up in the socket area and contacts causing it to not make contact, So clean them and recheck.. Side moulding just pushes on the rear box,the door & fender have bolts on the under sides at the each ends to keep it from moving any plus clips. And you'll need a thin blade like tool to slide under or behind it to pry it off. With care that is...

Remove a battery cable for safety before sticking your mitts behind the dash. The wiring is prolly the original and prolly not in very good condition by now.

The parking lamp and taillamp bulbs (#1157 clear-front or rear / #1157NA amber-front) have double filaments. Look close to see if one of the filaments has burned out.

Upper side mouldings are retained by clips, metal clips have threads, plastic clips are riveted on.

1970/72: There are two different widths of upper side mouldings: Custom/Sport Custom: 1 1/2"" wide / Ranger/Ranger XLT: 3 5/8" wide.
