having trouble
so i was changing the oil on my truck about a week ago and while i was under it i noticed a little rod that connects to the drivers side of the transmission. it was loose to the point where i can just pull it off where it connects. it runs up to the top of the block right about in the middle of it, i really haven't had time to look more into it, my only thought is, when i switch gears my needle does not move to tell me if I'm in P R N etc.. so i figured maybe its that? has anybody else had this problem?

Racin is spot on, I would think. The kickdown rod connects on to the throttle linkage at the engine and then to the kickdown lever at your C6 trans. When you floor the gas pedal it forces the trans to downshift (also known a passing gear). If it doesn`t bother you do without it or reconnect it.
As Racn says has nothing to do with the shift indicator.
