Back in the summer I was driving home to Austin from Dallas via I35 (which is a horribly dangerous road by the way...). Anyway the interstate here is two lanes on each side. I was in the right lane on cruise control and I slowly gain on this Lexus car in front of me. He pulls out to the left lane to go around a semi and I am about 10 car lengths behind and do the same thing. Well we are going down a hill so the semi picks up speed but the car doesn't. Well for about 5 miles he is right beside the semi not gaining or losing time. I get a little restless and pull within about 2 car lengths. Not riding his bumper but definitely making it clear I wanted him to speed up by moving closer. Well this goes on for another 5 miles or so and he finally picks up speed and gets around the truck and moves the right lane. I continue past him and then get over into the right lane as well. Now all of a sudden he accelerates comes right up on my bumper and puts on his high beam lights. Well this car has the LED headlights and they are bright. Not too bad as I am much higher but annoying as you know what. I speed up & he speeds up. Then I figure it out... Oh, he things I was driving behind him with the high beams on. Well, I wasn't. It was the height difference between the vehicles. I speed up and he speeds up. Now I am getting pissed. So I slow down he slows down. He less than a car length behind me trying to aim his headlight right into my driver side mirror. Well, now I have had enough. I tap the breaks and he dives to the left lane and speeds around and using hand signals tells me I am "#1". Well, I decide to tell him that I am not on high beam so I run up about a car length behind him and he tells me I am "#1" again. Then I turn on the high beam! LOL! It lights him up like a Christmas tree!!! I only leave them on for about 30 seconds but during that time he does the hand signal thing like "Ok, I get it and I have had enough..." I pull out and go around him on my merry way and he leaves me the heck alone.
I swear our world continues to grow it's idiot population. I think our entire country gets dumber every year. The smart people are not reproducing fast enough to offset the idiot reproductions!!! I used to think idiots were the minority of the population, now I think they are the majority.
Good thread. I enjoyed the other stories.

The last paragraph is signature worthy. You sir, have my respect.
Y'all ever notice that if you're pulling a trailer, everyone else thinks that means you're going slow and they have the right to pull out in front of you? I swear, every time I have the horse trailer hooked up, it happens. On the freeway, on rural roads, doesn't matter. They see you coming with a trailer and do their damndest to get in front of you - even if there's no room. Makes me wish sometimes I had a cow-catcher on the front of mine - but I'd probably be typing this from jail if I did............
Happens empty, too.
I think people think these trucks appear to be moving slower than it appears.
Or they think we drive under the speed limit...thus they pull out.
I've never driven a big rig (on a roadway) so abruptly stopping eight tires is enough to spook me.
I don't want to see what will happen to a Altima or something smaller...

The root of this problem is people who have never towed anything. If all you have ever driven is a car, you "think" that everything can stop as quick as you can. These people have no concept of mass, momentum, and stopping distance. Seriously, this concept should be part of the all driver education and driving tests but sadly it is not. Most driver education discusses the distance to stop your own car and following too closely but not how stupid driving actions affect large trucks and trailers that need more room to stop. It is compounded by the selfish nature of people doing what they want regardless of the consequences to others.

IMHO, I think this is the whole problem. I wish I could convince myself otherwise - then I wouldn't get so irritated at those who pull out in front of me and do other stupid dangerous things. I have much more tolerance for stupid people than I do a**h****.
While we're venting, one thing that really gets me... I am very careful where I park. I don't mind walking. My #1 priority is finding a spot where no one will want to get next to me, and where no shopping carts are likely to roll. Often I will come back to see that someone has parked their POS right next to me. I guess I shouldn't care as long as they don't bang me, I just don't understand why they do it.
BTW, does anyone else get pissed off when you are leaving the proper amount of space (especially when towing) and some (I'll be nice) uh..person... lane changes in front of you (without a blinker usually) so you have to back off to give enough room then another driver does the same thing.
You can see how this continues to repeat.
You leave distance to be safe but that's enough room for a car (or two!) to fill...
I try not to have road rage...I really do try...
Tom (Crazy001) drove a big rig... I don't see how he did it!

Reason: typo...
Oh yea, and then once that space is filled they quickly hit their service brakes to turn off on a side road........................
I attribute it to parents that let their kids grow up playing driving video games like "Need for Speed" etc, where there was no consequence for driving like an A**hole with your remote. It has transferred over to real world driving, because the youngins don't understand the laws of physics can NOT be broken.

We stop reproducing after 1 or 2. We learned that retirement, privacy, savings, or any form of intimacy will not be achieved with a perpetual squad of maturing children. Dumb people just let nature take it's course and let their kids do whatever they want.

Same thing happens when I am commuting on my FJR- I leave room in front of me, because my bike with ABS will stop on a dime, and I don't want to get run over by the dick behind me.
Here's my story...we were leaving last July for our 2k mile trip up to NY. We had the TT, my wife and both kids, very precious cargo in my book. Not even 20 minutes after we left the house, we were in the center lane of a 3 lane road. The right lane turns into a right turn only lane with those skinny plastic pylons between the lanes. Some jack*** decided he needed to be in my lane from the right lane so instead of slowing down and waiting for me to pass, he guns it and cuts in front of me just before the pylons start. If he didn't brush one of those pylons, he was damn close. This all happened at about 50 MPH. Here's the kicker, on the back of the brand new Hyundai was a dealer tag. I later found out that he is a sales manager for a Hyundai dealer. I'm just glad that my wife and kids were with me because I probably would have dragged him out of that vehicle strangled him!...not really-just sayin...
Wife and I were driving to Mena, AR. from south Louisiana in my truck pulling my stock trailer to pickup 3 horses I bought from a guy around there. We were on I-49 north, and there was a woman in an SUV that would pass me up then slow down and I would pass her up. We were playing leap frog for many miles. Sometimes we would stay on the side of each other for miles. She was back and forth on her cell phone. Finally my wife asked me why I keep doing this? I showed her that I had the cruise on and I was staying at 70 mph the whole time. Every time we would pass her she was on her phone, and every time she would pass us, she was not talking on her phone. Every time we would pass her, she would look at us like we were doing this on purpose to her. I see this all the time.
