I need to replace a busted heater hose under the cowling next to the engine firewall....one end has the regular clamp to take off the hose, the other end doesn't. How does the other end of the hose near the firewall come off? Nothing underneath hood seems straightforward anymore.....
The original heater hose has a clip on connector sort of like a fuel hose fitting on the core end. If you look up the hose on O'Reilly Auto Parts store site it will show a picture of that end of the hose. Or visit your local parts store and look at one.
Using the specific heater hose removal tool, or a pair of long needle nose pliers, push the clip @ the holes in the sides toward the heater core and pull off the hose.
There are several Youtube videos that show how to do it.
The fittings are available from Dorman and can be replaced with bulk hose of the correct size and standard hose clamps.
The fitting has an O-ring to seal against the heater core nipple. By the time the O-ring leaks, the hose should be replaced also.
