Muffler change... backpressure needed?
Currently have a V10 with no cat and a Flowmaster 44. Flowmaster has rusted out around the outlet tube and needs replaced. Don't like the sound of it on the V10 anyways....
Wanting to do a glasspack but I am worried it wont have enough back pressure. Ive heard the V10 straight piped and it just didnt sound quite right (could be 10 cylinders open just sounding different to me) but anyways will a glasspack let the engine function normally on a 2000 V10?
If not I will just end up getting the Flowmaster 50 HD

Not the backpressure myth again. You changed the exhaust velocity by ditching the cat, same with going to the undersized FM44.(Probably have that crappy collapsed exhaust shop bends too) I'd put a Flowmaster 70 BB2 or a FM50 SUV muffler on it and call it good. Just get a muffler with a decent amount of capacity to it. Loud and annoying exhausts don't always equate to more power, it is often times the opposite.

I just run glasspacks on all the V8s ive ever owned (whats wrong with me??!!) but it just didnt seem right on the V10.
Looking at 50 series but what do you guys think about the Flowmaster Pro Series (aka Hushpower pro?)

On my 2006 F250 I ran straight pipes with no cat or muffler for 3 yrs with no problems, no noticeable loss (or gain) in power from it either. Sure it may have had one, but it certainly was not dramatic enough for me to notice.
I hear all these backpressure stories all the time, usually just ignore them.

I have previously run a Flowmaster super 44. After it recently rotted off, I replaced it with a MBRP full 5 inch, with duals (5 inch) specifically made for the v10. Anybody who tries to tell ya back pressure this, and back pressure that, ignore it. My throttle response is better. My towing power is better. And so is my mileage. No, I don't have a dyno sheet. Don't need one. Oh yea, the v10 sounds great with duals, the bigger the better. No it's not loud, in my opinion.
