Extreme delta

Well today drove to the beach and back in one day (12 hr driving), I was unloaded both ways except the second passenger on the return trip.

Keeping a eye on my SGII I was watching EOT/fWT/ICP/FMP. Well I looked and I saw a spread of 24* at 70mph, 2000 rpm, ICP running between low 1400 to high 1370, FMP was running 48.0 to 47.5.

When I got to slower than 65 mph, I would see the spread close in. I watched both ways and I bairly saw the fWT get to 190 and if it did it would last about 1 to 2 minutes.

Well doing my search through previous threads it looks like my oil cooler might be going bad, hopefully soon I can really drain/flush my coolent and install a coolent filter. What is everyones opinion on the spread and what I should take care of first.

Sounds like a plugging oil cooler.

Hopefully a flush will work for you - there is little to lose by trying it at this point (IMO).

You're delta will always be higher with higher RPMs but that high suggests a clogging oil cooler, like Mark said; try a flush but you're probably looking at a replacement. I've seen 20 on mine after an hour or so at 90MPH but I don't have to worry about an EGR so...

My truck had that 25* spread at all times didnt matter how fast or how far I drove everytime I would get to my destination I would have a 25* spread ECTvsEOT

when I pulled the oil cooler out and then cut it open It was compleatly Plugged

And also keep in mind that since it failed the test at 65mph steady speed its a Failed part period.

Even if you drive at slower speeds and the spread is not as far apart its just not getting worked to drive the spread up that High out But the oil cooler is still plugged and is starving the EGR Cooler of coolant

You can try to flush But honestly it may be to FAR Gone

maybe you saw this thread IDK just thought that I would post it, Some of these folks got there spread closer by flushing But I think Some Flushed for month and maybe 2. I just think that there is a Point where you cut your Losses and Dig in and change the Oil cooler, the coolant veins are so small its hard to flush them out once there to far gone but check it out

SOME GREAT IDEAS ON OIL COOLER BACKFLUSH
