1965-72 f100 shortbed frames the same?
I'm looking for a better frame for my 1965 f100 2wd shortbed project. I seem to remember it being mentioned here that that the frames from 1965 through 1972 all interchange? If so does that mean the sheetmetal mounting points were the same for all these years? I tried the search section but could'nt find an answer. If they are the same that really expands my possibilities.
Looking for a frame or "non restorable" truck in the Mid Atlantic area. Thanks in advance for your help. Lefty

You might check with Tom at Flashback F100's located in NC. He saves all the frames from the trucks he parts out.

Don, different wheelbase only applies to long beds, cuz the short bed is the same 1965/72 (115").
8' bed: 1965/66: 129" wheelbase / 1967/72: 131" wheelbase.

Thru 1972, the inner frame rails behind the cab are 33 1/2" apart.
1973: Ford widened these rails to 37 1/2" on everything except 1973/77 F250 4WD's (High Boys) and F350's on the 140" wheelbase.

Bill . . . you're the Man!
Too bad you can't bottle all of that information and sell it. You'd be a rich man (if you're not already).

Sheet metal mounting points are the same for the cab, and radiator support. Bed will need a possible re drill for mounting.
The frame profile and cab mounts are slightly different as they use differing cab insulators and radiator support pucks.

Unfortunately, Dave has since passed away. See the thread from NumberDummy below. As the thread mentions Dave was a master fabricator. Posts of his showing some of his work left no doubt he was a talented individual.

I heard that Tom passed away awhile back, and that his wife is disposing of all the parts.
