Yep, 38,000k and she failed emissions. Now stupid me forgot to return her to stock. The guy asked if I had any work done on her , then he asks if i replaced a battery? I said yes, 2 weeks ago i replaced the battery. He said the OBD needs 250 miles or so to return everything back to normal after disconnecting the battery.? Anyone heard of this? Should i have returned her to stock? I am running 89 performance from 5-star.

the guy is telling the truth. i had the same problem a few years ago on another vehicle. i got a code, fixed the issue, erased the code with my OBD handheld and ended up doing the drive around for a few days till it reset. i can't remember if it was 250 miles though. even though the code had been reset with the handheld the inspection station will still see it.

happend to me with my old F150...I returned the program back to stock and drove straight to the smog shop 5 miles away. he plugged it in and said fail sorry...I told him what I did and he told me to drive about 50 miles and come back and he would redo it. cost me an extra $25 for that oop's, but now I know!
Anytime you flash your computer or unhook your batteries you will pull a P1000 code, all that means is there has not been enough time for your trucks computer to gather all the engine peramitiers it needs....
Luckily, here in PA, superduty trucks dont get obd tested due to weight restrictions. It is very common for lighter vehicls to fail because of readyness status.
Check with Mike at 5-star and make sure his tunes don't leave the P1000 sitting there forever. I don't think that they do, so any readiness codes should have disappeared by now.
I don't think weight figures into this one, the 2008 V8 should be fully OBD-II compliant unless it's a Canada truck or something else strange.
In NC, heavy duty trucks only get a visual inspection... no emission testing required. I had my 1997 F250 4X4 inspected yesterday and the technician did a "walk around" inspecting only the head lights, turn signals, and brake lights.
