Okay, just fixed the photo of the VIN tag. I didn't realize it wasn't working, and I'll fix it in the post above too.
Yes, the truck does have the triangular braces like you mentioned, so the body is likely intended as 4WD as you indicated. The VIN as you can see says 04 but is riveted through the next character. I may never know what the heck I have, but it doesn't concern me too terribly much.
I just wanted to be able to accurately describe the truck for a potential buyer. I guess I can't claim it's a factory or a conversion 4WD at this point, just that it's a 4WD. If it matters THAT much to a potential buyer I'll refer them to this thread and let them decide for themselves.
I should probably post a for sale thread here too. Thanks for all the help guys.

looks like a 1960 F250 Ford 4x4 custom cab to me. big back window and magic air. it looks stock to me. closed knuckle dana 44, looks to be the right t-case, you said it has the cab braces, and looks like they put the vin tag rivit right over the front axle code just like my 60. look at your front axle rear spring hangers were the bolt runs through the eye. looks kinda cobbled up, just like mine. when i installed my new front springs i had to take the mounts off the frame and have the bolts pressed out and the spring shop said something wasnt right because there was a washer welded on the mount. i had thought maybe mine had been in a crash or had some damage. then i bought a pos parts 60 F250 4x4 and the hangers had the same washer welded on them. again, same as yours. if yours isnt factory, looks like they used a factory set-up for a donor. Whats up with that rear frame extension and whats holding in the trans?
Congratulations!! This is a factory 4x4. Bracing is exactly like mine. Let us know if you buy it. Will share knowledge and parts sources if need. Good luck.
In looking at the pictures. Factory front end, lower shock braces correct for 59-60, different for 61 on. Factory steering box for 4x4. Uses a little bigger box and utilizes a 2 ton shaft and worm and larger sector. Overload springs on back, dana spicer 24 transfer case. Shifter placement for 4 speed and transfer case original. Did notice, bent crossmember on box frame and broken rivet on rear front spring hanger. VIN F25C, C=292 2 barrel. Looks fairly original and uncut. Does he have the pickup box? If not 57-60 stylesides 2WD and 4WD use the same box and some select models such as 3/4 ton 2WD up to 63 I think and then up to 66 for 3/4 ton 4x4's. I think fairly rare for wrap arounds in 3/4 ton 4x4's. I know of a 59 3/4 ton 4x4 with wrap around and it looks sharp.
I'm glad somebody cleared this up for me as well. I just sold a 59 F100 that I was told when I bought it that it was factory 4x4, but the vin# started with F10, and going off LMC's decoder it wasn't. I do know however, that LMC's info isn't very accurate, if you decode the vin on my 65 using their info it says my truck has the 300 inline 6 and that the 240 wasn't offered in 65, and I know my truck has the 240, not the 300.
Folks, I don't know where else to ask this, but I tried to post a "for sale" ad for the truck. You may recall I'm the owner. I've been a member since '05 and have 10 posts. The for sale rules say you must be a member for 25(?) days and have 5 posts. Can someone direct me to a moderator that could help?
