Need MAJOR HELP!!

Ok, heres what the steerlership said. They said on my #7 fail: that something has come apart, and bent the glow plug. and theres nothing they can do to fix it???? SOO how in the world did that cause the overboosting?? truck runs GREAT at idle just some smoke. So im totally lost!?!?! Maybe a hole in the piston? not allowin it to build the pressure and causing the overboost? hell IDK! so I need advice on what todo next! new motor, or rebuild?? FML! Thanks for helping.

Hit us with more details as to what the symptoms were and what it did prior to having it checked out. Oh yea you might want to go easy on the stealership thing as the guys here that could provide you with the best insight work for them

What ever it was would have had to gotten through the air filter, past the turbo wheel (twice no doubt!) and out the exhaust if it isn't still in the engine. I'm thinking you hear it if it was still in there there. Did you have the #7 glow plug replaced at some point? One style is different (longer) than the other, but I'm going off the top of my head...I remember some making a point to point out the different in the two styles. That's the only other thing I can come up with. Maybe Cheezit or m-chan will chime in with their words of wisdom...I'm not really sure what to tell you is best for your truck at this point.

He's got a different thread going over the last day or so dealing with an over-boost condition that doesn't seem to go away with the normal methods of repair.

If you can scan the report and post it...that would be some interesting reading. When you say "#7 had 80psi"...of what? Boost? Fuel pressure? HPO? There are several things at play. I'd be interested to know where the metal came from.

well after waittin all day and still no fax i called back, they said that the glow plug hole was to small to scope (i smell bs). well what they said was #7 had only 80 psi EBP and #3 was down 10% also. so any ideas? and does anyone have a full rebuild list with parts, and should I rebuild or get another motor?? to get a replacement motor from the only shop that offers one is 18k . Any ideas or methods of maddness I can put through some thought and not lite the rag sticking out the diesel fillup tube??what a drepressing day. I need something better than 18k thats NUTS! I can buy another truck for that... what a hole to be in.

Sounds like you might have had a piece of valve break off or something like that internal to the engine get sucked through the system and beat the ever living crap out of a couple of cylinders.

Do you at least get a kiss let alone dinner out of that date? Gees they've gone up allot. Seems like last year you could pick up a long block for $11k. I'd go with a long block, they come with a mileage warranty that's worth it if you ask me.

Well, if your insurance is like mine...get someone to steal it & set fire to it. Allot easier on the pocket book Did I just type that out?

i found a replacement 6.0 motor complete with the turbo and oil drain pan with the torque converter for $3500. tats right folks. i said it. last i checked, it was in TN. u have to look around. u will find it. do a google search. heck, even 5 grand is still cheaper than the 18 grand u got quoted.

@ zhilton, i hear u on the "steal it & set fire to it". sshhhh. not so loud. i'm sure the raccoons in my head have been bored and are looking for ways to be creative. lmao.

Yes 18K is too much I assume thats with the labor to install

How handy are you at wrenching

Maybe you can find a wrecked on with a good moter

Heres a few that I found
Ford Engines for Sale on DieselEngineTrader

I will keep looking I thought I had some other links to engines saved but I cant find them

Odds are if you keep that moter thats in it it will need a piston and Head

Looks like you can get a new Head with the Valves from Tousley Ford for 1000.00
2003 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY Parts - Tousley Ford Parts Depot

Probably peice the moter you have back together for alot cheaper

How Good are you at Wrenching??????
would this be something you could take on???

My wife just slide her car into a curb and then off the road onto a Pond well the insurance totaled it out.
But the shop had a 4500.00 dollar bill going on it to repair thats 80% of its value what they total it out at. After they paid it off they owed me 1600.00 bucks they wanted 1K for the car so I took it back and are sending me a check for 600.00.

I put 300.00 dollars in it and got it back on the road just all suspension componets no Body damage. Changed all the suspension put a tape measure on it got it aliened its good to go. Some people are just in it for the money. that shop I mention even had it on the Bill to replace a Brand new tire that wasnt damaged WTH I said. Its pretty safe to say me and the guy at the shop Didnt get Along but it worked out in the long run

I guess my point is if you do the work you can save a TON of Money

If it were my truck Id get it out of that shop and pull the moter myself Im thinking 2-3K in parts and what not and build the moter stud it put 2 new heads in it new piston new Bed Plate seal front main and rear main everything and be done with it

For 18K I could build one Hell of a moter bigger injectors power max turboes the works

Yea i agree 18k is alot but thats new jasper motor and installed. Im not to bad with a wrench just never done a diesel before. Im sure I could do it but damn! Its not what I needed to hear atm. but ill manage imma pick it up tomorrow I guess and start tearing it down and see what I get. Im hopping that the head is all it is. the way they make it sound thats all it was. so im sure it wont be that bad. then ill just rebuild it bullet proof. so please dont be shy on givein me things todo while i have it tore apart, so it will be built proof when Im done. Would it be easier to pull the cab rather than the motor? its a CC so that will be fun. Imma pull my hair out thinking about this. so Blades do you have a parts list for a rebuild? are know where i can locate one? Looks like i signed up to FTE at the right momment.

18k is the highest I EVER heard for a motor install. You can do way way way better than that. I guarantee you can have the truck hauled to Matty169's shop in Wisconsin and let him put a motor in it for probably less than 1/2 that figure. If the cylinder walls aren't damaged then you can probably put a piston in it, put a new head on it, and go.
