Interesting... I never thought about that.

I don't know where he put mine. I'll check it out tomorrow. I like loud so I'll probably love it.

The older you get, the more dis-tasteful loud becomes.

First off i'd like to say "how ya been Mr. Critter" Little Doo will always have a place in our memories! Might not remember me off the top of your head but, i'll never forget your truck! we had the 79 chevy, black, step side, rebel flag grill....

and second i completely agree!! my old 2000 F250 V10 had BANKS headers (which was a great improvement), no cat, and a FlowMaster original 40 series with 3"in/dual 2.5 outs...

at the time (about 10 years ago now), i thought it was a sweet sounding ride, and received many compliments on it..... after my last 2 hour drive (the drive where i traded it for an 07 harley street bob with 1000 miles), i wanted to pull over and stuff as much gas station toilet paper i could in my ears..... granted the last few years i rarely drove it, maybe one weekend a month into town and back (30 miles or so), and it didn't really bother me. After that 2 hour drive, i was itching to get out of it, due to the ride(9" lift and 39.5 irocks) and the exhaust!

when the guy i was trading with said the harley had aftermarket pipes, that was the second thought i had "crap, gonna have to change those" but they have a nice deep rumble on the open road ** thank god!!** they were just slip on mufflers!

i have moved on to the low tone rumble rather than the loud growl.

I can see that. I'm 30, I'm just a big kid. If I want it quite I could always borrow my girlfriend's Focus... or not.

I am looking at getting a nice Benz to replace the Focus, that way we'll have a car that we can take trips with that is quite and comfy. The primary purpose of the Excursion is toy/fun. I work at home, so I don't need to go anywhere. I don't have anything to tow either so the drone is a non issue.

I found out yesterday that I had a pretty bad exhaust leak after the CAT, I guess the bolts were sheared off, it is all fixed up now though. I'm heading over there to check it out later.

I listened to it last night on my home theater system and the file sounds better than I thought. Still nowhere near what it is like in person. I love it, I think it actually sounds way better than my old 460/Dynomax did. The 460 with Dynomax produced a really annoying resonance all the time.

Anyway, get a 44 they are cheap and sound awesome.

He mounted mine right after the CAT, so I guess that makes it louder?

I went over and checked it out when it was outside yesterday. The 315's are on now with no lift. Anyway when the truck is at idle it sounds really good and not loud. If you tap the pedal a little it makes a nice sound, again not load. If you stomp the pedal as I did a few times, it gets pretty loud, but not all that loud in the truck. I did did a couple take offs on pretty much sheer ice with the studded 315's, those things dig like crazy.

Point is, my 460ci F250 with the Dynomax muffler was way loud no matter what. It had a sort of penetrating resonance. The Super44 on the V10 really makes it sound great and it is not nearly as loud as I expected it to be. I am really amazed. The V10 sounded so crappy before, maybe partly due to a pretty bad exhaust leak. The shop video I posted before doesn't do it justice. I should have taken some video yesterday... but I really don't think any video will really show what it is like in person.

It has a really great sound when you back off the pedal also. My mechanic says it is the best sounding thrush type muffler setup he has ever heard. That is saying a lot because he is a Dodge guy and those Dodge V8's sound fantastic with a performance exhaust.

I could not be more pleased with the setup. Bear in mind I did do a cold air intake at the same time which also changes the sound. The intake is really great, looks every bit as good as the $300 ones from AFE or K&N. This picture makes it look small but it is huge.

Yeah I got a cold air intake on mine already, Plus with my 8" lift and 37's mine might sound a bit louder because it'll b at ear level if your sitting next to me in a car. Working on getting the tuner from Mike but having an issue with getting the number off the computer, its not as easy as people made it seem!

It does sound good. I can also see it getting old for us old guys. For your use, it's probably just right. Most of my EX driving is towing, so quiet and relaxing is my preference.

I used to put a glass pack on everything when I was a wee lad and loved it. Still like the sound of my big block chevy with a nice loping cam, headers and full exhaust with some nearly useless glass packs. Couldn't drive it everyday tho.

I just laugh at the kids in the obnoxious rice burners with the loud exhaust on an econobox. Sigh, times have changed and I didn't.

Talking

I don't tow, and I'll be honest I've got no clue what this would sound like under load cruising down the interstate. Will it drone, IDK, but I know it will be way more pleasant than my 460 was. That would drone/resonate when it idled. I'm really glad I didn't go with glasspacks on this. I've heard glasspack V10's on youtube and they sound kind of crappy. I agree that they sound good will the old school big blocks with true duals and a roller rocker cam. The V10 will never sound like that.
