I'm thinking of getting some XLT rims for my XL, and then lowering the back to match the front. May also remove the badge. So, I got crackin' in photoshop:
I love those rims, have them on my truck. Rather than lower the rear, I'd raise the front a bit with leveling coils and run 31 10.50s. It does look nice leveled though. I just don't see much point in lowering the rear of a truck, unless its a muscle truck like a Lightning for example.
Defintely leave the fender emblems on. There is a hole behind them. I'm curious, do yours just say F150 and not have XL on the lower part?
Raising the front isn't permanent either. Its just a different pair of springs. You don't even need a spring compressor. This is actually just about as easy as lowering the rear in my opinion.
You can get Moog replacement springs that will do this for about 75 dollars.
I used to have the Superlift leveling coils on the front of mine along with some other modifications. I took all of it off and went back to stock. It looks fine, but I really think the level look is better. I'm thinking about doing this again and might use these. Moog CC822 or CC844. I'll have to find out which one.
I think once you have the front coil springs on, you'll dig it. I'm not one for lifting a 2wd either, but I don't really consider this a lift.
Hmm, decisions, decisions. I'll keep thinking about it. The badge only says f150, no xl.
The Eddie Bauer trucks have that same badge. I really like the ones that just say F150 and nothing else. I always wanted to put them on my truck instead of the XLT ones. Too bad my truck as a small paint chip on one side right behind the XLT part of the badge.
I think it looks great leveled. I wouldnt lift the front or run larger tires on it either, that would look silly IMO.
Why would larger tires look silly? I think that 31s are the perfect size for our trucks. Honestly, I think the stock 235 75 15 tires look silly. LOL...
Here is my 2wd with stock suspension on 31 10.50 tires. I don't think it looks silly at all.
The Eddie Bauer trucks have that same badge. I really like the ones that just say F150 and nothing else.
To the best of my knowledge, all XL & XLT trucks had badges that said what they were. So am I correct in assuming that the PO changed it to an EB emblem?
