Possible Blown Subwoofer

I have a 2006 Lariat super crew with the factory subwoofer and just upgraded my head unit to a Pioneer - 50W x 4 MOSFET. I want to put in new speakers and a new amp but I'm afraid to blow out the factory sub. Will putting in a new amp blow out the sub or can the factory sub handle the power?

It more than likely won't be able to hold the power of an aftermarket amp.

you should hand the factory sub down to a friend or something. then you could get a upgrade to a 10" . i hear a kicker vr10 is good.

Like the guys said...the factory sub won't handle aftermarket power. There are a ton of options in the aftermarket for subs...and you'd be surprised how some little packages can create big sound. I have a JL 8" in a JL enclosure paired with a JL amp...and it beats pretty well for a little cone. I'd be happy to tell ya more about it if you were interested.
The factory sub is pretty weak in my opinion.

Pioneer makes a shallow 8" sub that will fit in the OEM enclosure if you are interested in going that route. Last I checked, was about $125. I looked into it a long while back but have not made the move yet.
