Gearing Question

I used to have an '04 XLT 4.6l but ended up trading it in awhile back for something better on gas. Well I'm back shopping for another F-150 and couldn't be happier! I'm looking for something along the lines of a 06-08 Lariat/FX4 screw 5.4l.

My question about gearing is this: What are the standard gearing options that came with the Lariats and FX4's? Was their a choice, or only one option? I'm not going to do much towing. Just normal highway driving and light off road use.

What should I be looking for? Thanks everyone!
Evan

PS...I did some searching around the forum and the best I could find were discussions regarding what gears were best for towing, not necessarily what came with what trim packages.

Most of the FX4s came with 3.73 gears. Very few and they are very hard to find came with 3.55 gears. You can find Lariats with both I just mentioned.
I have an 06 FX4 with 3.73 gears and Im happy with its performance. If you care to look at my mileage report just click on the image in my sig line. My commute is 3 miles one way and Im mostly city driving...its also running a tune.

In the end...3.73 or 3.55...either are good and will get the job done.
