I have a basically stock 2002 F250 4x4 Auto with muffler deleted and got my 6 position PHP Phoenix chip from Kenny Thompson at ktperformance.net for $295 plus shipping ($307 total) ... I emailed several questions and then talk with Kenny and took his recommendations for sensible HP settings for my particular usage and it works great...I got: Stock, Whisper, 80 HP Daily Driver, 100 HP Performance, 65 HP Tow and No Start. He also offers free changes for six months if you think you'd like some other tunes after trying it out - you just pay the shipping. He's real easy to communicate with and fast getting it to you...
I think the TS chip can hold 6 tunes? I have 15 tunes on my DP-TUNER so I guess I would have to have 3 TS chips to cover all my tunes. When you get live tuned with Jody, all the tunes you want are free.
OH, and if you look at the top of the page, you will see that DP-TUNER is the SPONSOR of this forum we are all posting in.

Any of the chips will work on the truck.
I'm not discrediting Jody's work because i lived his tunes and yes it is nice to have extra tunes. But after having a DP chip and now TS chip, I run in mainly 2-3 different tunes, never have a need for more than that. I have my DD and Tow tune along with my Dyno/drag tune.
But yes DP is the forum sponsor so if a person is looking for a chip, you would be supporting an awesome sponsor.

I understand what you are saying about not needing more tunes, but my needs are a little different.
0. I like the no start tune. Must have when parked at a hotel.
1. Stock tune. Again this is a must have tune.
2. High idle. I use this tune all the time.
3. 40t. I use this tune when I am pulling heavy when I go to the mountians.
4. 60t. Use this pulling heavy in my flat land area. lol
5. Decel. Good to have when pulling the hills.
6. 80t. I use this when just pulling the trailer without a load.
7. 60e. I could do without this one.
8. 80e. I use this all the time when not towing.
9. 100 race. I use this to play.
10. 120r. I could do away with this tune.
11. 140r. I use this one to race.
12. lope idle. I don't need this one but Jody threw it in there.
Tunes I need. 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, I would not like to be without these. So, looks like I need a chip that can hold at least 10 tunes. I must be missing a couple. lol

^Agree, I run 2-3 tunes 99% of the time.
And 15 tunes? Do you have to pull out a map to remind you which one is which???
If the SCT tuner is 1705 and its free go for it. I have a friend with one and he loves it. Its just not like the above mentioned chips. Try it and when you change you'll never go back. I had an early SCT tuner and it messed with my shifting and didn't really feel much in power.

I say this because when or if you have a problem (unique or common) it's a matter of making a simple drive to this person where they can better diagnose and make adjustments to either get you better, more fine tuned performance.

But, Jody and DP Tuner make a FANTASTIC product, so don't let that dissuade you.
Per Tailgate77478, with a TS Style chip, yes it limits you to 6 tunes; but I don't too many people that use more than 6 tunes. (myself included). Most people end up with a tow tune, econo tune, performance/race tune, and maybe high idle if they see a need for it.
Also per Tailgate, it allows you some serious flexibility when it comes to who does your tunes. Whereas DP chips are proprietary with their own advantages (up to 15 tunes and the ability to email tunes).

I ran an SCT Xcal2 for 3 years before I bought my DP in 2009 and it served me quite well. Using the performance tune, my truck rarely got anything less than 17-18 mpg with only exhaust and an intake. So if that meets your needs in the meantime, I'd say give it a try until you've got your pennies saved for a DP or TS Style chip. Besides, it's free
Make sure he detunes his truck before you take it....
I noticed no one here mentioned it, but Matt at Gearhead Automotive Performance does Excellent work with the 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4. I've met him personally and seen the man's work first hand.
Don't take my word for it though, do a search on Tony Wildman, Dp-Tuner, Gearhead, Cale at Tyrant, and see which one happens to jump out at you.
