Used tuners...?
hey guys ... wondering what everyones thoughts were on used tuners... i purchased a used hypertech tuner for my old ram 1500 hemi a few years back and it was great ...no issues... i bought a brand new sct sf3 for my 6.0 and has been great ...no issues.... i have been looking at the sct livewire for my 08 6.4.... i found a guy selling a used livewire and used dpf delete pipe for a really good price... so im wondering if i should take the good deal or just stay safe and buy new... any input is much appreciated!!!

Hi, I bought mine used (edge racing evolution). It has been great and I saved a couple hundred bucks. But, I think the answer to your question depends on what you want a tuner to do. I wanted only to remove the DPF and end the exhaust cleanings. I installed the tuner set it on position 1 for a very mild tune and have not changed it. I am quite happy.
However, if I wanted to have and use high horse power tunes I would as a minimum buy a tuner that also tunes the tranny and I would buy it new. That's as a minimum, but what I would perfer to do is buy new and get someone to custom tune the motor and tranny for my equipment and my driving style. I have formed that opinion based on reading a lot of threads on this and other forums. It's all here if you care to do the research. Just enter "tuner" in the search box. Hope this helps.
