I rebuilt My 1989 F150's AOD transmission, used Bad Shoe Rebuild videos. Engine is a 302. With 1500 stall converter and recommended upgrades per video
History.
• After rebuilding and installing back in truck I experienced reverse only no forward gears.
• Traced Problem to bad valve body. I replaced with rebuilt valve body and all gears returned.
• Checked alignment of TV cable per video.
• Full with Fluid
Symptom now
• Transmission will not engage unless tack reads 2K
• When hitting 2K it hits it engages.
• Trans does not slip after engages.
• Transmission shifts up/down and into Overdrive normally got up to 75mph no problems.
• Come to stop light, depress accelerator and transmission will not engage until 2k and all is normal after engagement.

Yes little square gasket and round rubber one.
Yes I agree need pressure readings I will get asap! Will be able to tell a lot more.
I figured this might jog someones memory as to possibility what the problem might be.
I got side tracked and could not get readings. I will take the checks on Saturday.
I was talking to some mechanics and they say it might be that I have a 2600 stall converter, I don't think so. Can someone clarify, with a stall converter the truck should move forward when I put it into gear. It will not move at all until the tach hit 2k. Rev works fine.
I think I maybe wrong I called PATCO and spoke to the tech. He said It can't be the torque converter if reverse works fine. I may have something else wrong. Pressure readings will shed more light on the issue. So I guess I need to get the readings! Thanks again for your response!
