Another Exhaust Manifold Question

all right guys im still putting off this job and i have a few more questions. i dont have the money for the hedman headers right now so i have to put the logs back on. besides making sure that mating surfaces are flat and there are no cracks what else do i look for? i know i need new gaskets but what other parts? should i get the new studs from ford? antiseize them? any other tips would be appreciated!

if you cant afford hedman,, try these 99-04 FORD SUPER DUTY F350 6.8L V10 2WD EXHAUST HEADER | eBay

i bought a set.. and yes they say they only fit 2wd.. but i have a 2000 v10 4wd f250.. and they bolted right up and i love them.

but if money is still an issue.. yes get new gaskets and unless the studs are rusted out.. just antiseize them

They look nice and not a bad price. They even come with their own bolts to replace the studs, it seems. Did you use the bolts supplied in place of the studs?

I would never replace a stud with a bolt. Head and main studs versus bolts and the studs are stronger. Its also easier to get a nut on it blindly then trying to thread a bolt in.

i would have used the bolts but i had a set of locking header bolts that i used instead.. and ive had no problems with them at all... which is surprising...ive always had header bolts loosen at some point on other vehicles... but these have stayed tight

Try summit racing.

Look up

Dorman 03411 Set of 10

There is also Dorman 03131 and 03129. Sets of 4. Not sure if these will work or not but they appear to be a better quality. I cant find an ARP exhaust stud for that application

You can get them from Ford. Thats what I would do. I would just put anti-seize on the threads before you put the nut on.

Ford want crazy money for thier studs. I would never buy from Ford. The broken rusty studs you have now are ford studs. So why would you buy more from Ford?? Stainless steel studs are the only way to go.
