I will help you in any way that I can, as I'm sure everybody else here, will too!!!
I've 'lurked' on quite a few forums, and I'm a member of several, but, I'm proud to say that this forum has some of the nicest people that I've ever had the pleasure to talk with.
Your Dad sounds like he'd be fun, to be around!!
Mockingbirds with an air rifle!!!!
Kinda like knocking down a B-52 with a slingshot!

Yes, I have gotten some good advice from others as well, and I appreciate it to the max, but I must admit that you have outdone most as far as this thread goes. And I agree, this forum has the nicest people on it. I haven't found a forum to beat it. Thanks to all for a wonderful ride.
As far as my Dad, it is an air gun, not a rifle, and I don't know if he ever actually hit his mark. I know he had the cops called on him for it though. I have a little ole rinky dink bee bee rifle that I use to scare off critters around here. I was surprised when I killed a Mockingbird from about 70 feet away. Got is square in the head. It was sitting on the fence though. I doubt I could hit anything on the fly. I guess I inherited a hate for Mockingbirds from my Dad. They are noisy as the devil, and MEAN as hell. When they start attacking me and my animals ... somethings gotta go. Otherwise I really don't like to kill anything.
I think open and concealed carry both have their merits. We only have concealed carry in Texas but it would be nice to have the option.
People are generally nicer though when you have a weapon visible. Go figure...
I was raised in Texas and do more business there than in New Mexico. I am crossing the line constantly, so I wish they had open carry too. I also hope that someday New Mexico and Texas can have the same rules so I don't have to keep putting on and taking off my weapon every five minutes.
As an after thought. With knowing myself as I do, I was glad that I didn't have to jump through hoops to get my weapon. All I had to do was buy it from a friend and slap it on my hip. I didn't even have to register it. But after realizing what crazy things some people do I'm a little nervous about this freedom. This means that just anyone can buy one from a friend even though they don't know how to handle it, don't know the rules, could even be an X con, or absolutely nuts. From now on I won't be as informative as I have been, and instead of telling people they can merely buy one from a friend I'll just suggest that they go to a reputable dealer. This way they will at least have to go through a back ground check first.

I know there are people in this thread that would like to know about this, but they aren't members in the club. I really love reading what Keith has to say, especially when it comes to firearms!! He has a lot of knowledge, and he makes it entertaining to read too!
It's only available to people that have a paid membership to FTE. I think it's like $20.00 a year. We get involved in some pretty good debates. If you've ever been involved in a thread then it all of the sudden disappears, it likely ended up here in the Club. Having a paid membership also eliminates many of the advertisements found on this site.
I think I will go see if starbucks make hot chocolate if so I might have a peaceful lunchtime on the 14th. I love the ability to carry anywhere accept a federal building or state park. If I have pants on I have a firearm on me.It is concealed and I have my CCW permit so it is leagal to do so. Most of the time I carry a full frame .45acp ruger P90. If not I keep a ruger lcp in my pocket. When I picked up my permit years ago. Myself and another guy was talking about the wait and the hoops we had to go through to get them, a woman in front of us turned and looked at me and said " I don't know why anyone would want a gun. My sister comitted suicide last year with a gun I won't touch one." I replied "If she had drowned herself would you still bathe?" Arguements like that is whats wrong with the Nation today. The gun didn't kill this person she comitted suicide. I don't step on the rights of others who don't like guns. In return I only ask they don't step on my rights.
Thanks for the clarification CSJohn! I don't have the mental ammo or real desire to get into online debates, especially about gun control, religion or anything else---rather just live and let live, act and react locally so to speak.
It does seem to be this so-called "peaceful" organization has an escalating action plan in case their first attempts to have their way don't suit them. While I seriously doubt any that call for attendance will result in widespread action it will be interesting to see how quickly Starbucks does or does not cave into such pressure.
On the other side of this CC thing I simply don't believe anyone responsible enough to go through the process of obtaining that permission could be seen as a threat or even a concern. Regardless though such outfits target the weapon while fully failing to address the bigger issue of criminal activities or the societal decline that's contributed to so many of us coming to believe its more and more important to carry a weapon these days.
I don't know there's even a Starbuck's close to me but its worth looking into if only to counteract something like your link suggests.
