do they make a conversion kit for a ford 240 I6 thinking about getting rid of the carburetor on my 67 f100 and switching but want a decent kit and headers if anyone knows of any please let me know
Holley maks a 2 barrel, throttle body kit that would probably work if you can find an appropriate intake manifold. Not exactly cheap, but it includes everything you'd need. There are also 4 barrel, throttle body kits available, again, if you can find an intake manifold that will work. I don't know of anyone making a kit with multi-point injection for an in-line 6.
Is there a special reason the EFI from a 300 wouldn't work? I would search out a '90's F150 with a 300 (4.9). It will be EFI and rob everything from it. Do not get an '89. They had 2 fuel pumps and mine was a pain. As far as that goes why not just put the whole 300 in your truck? Sell your 240 to a purest.
Yeah, those in-tank fuel pumps suxed. He wouldn't gain much by adding a stock 300-I6 fuel injection setup...they were a speed density system. They were calibrated to handle only X amount of intake air (determined by intake size) and the computers weren't programmable/changeable like a MAF system. They were good trucks, just couldn't mod them at all and improve on the 15 mpg/town and maybe 18 mpg/highway fuel efficiency. The earlier carbed 6's would get that kind of mileage, even an old whipped 6 will get 15 with a decent, clean carb if you know how to drive it right. I wonder if Dodge made a fuel injected straight or slant 6? Headers won't help a 6 that much...they are built to pull like mules...lots of grunt for a long time, but very reliable. An EFI 302 swap would probably be a better bet.
