I have read some posts in which they refer to a HD E4OD. HD referring to a Heavy Duty tranny. Is there such a tranny and how would you identify. My Bronco is a '94 with the factory towing package , but have never seen any markings to indicate being HD.
Any opinions/remarks would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a 1990 Ford Bronco. I also have the towing package. My truck does have the "HD E40D". the reason I put it in is becuase my engine has been modified to kick out over 350H.P. That would shread a E40D. That's why I bought the HD version. It cost me a little over $5900! They don't come from the factory with these trannys. Though the best way to tell if you have the HD tranny with out taking it apart is this. If your truck goes into gear with Authority, meaning when you put the truck in drive the whole thing jumps forward even with the brakes on, well then my friend you have been blessed with the HD E40D!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!
