I am looking to putting an air compressor in either my Bronco or '97 F-350. I would be using it primarily for airing up tires on the truck and camper. Nothing too serious. If it is on the Super Duty it would need to inflate up to at least 80psi (capable of it). Depending on the compressor, perhaps some air tools. Any options out there?
Depends on how much space you want to take up. I have heard of emergency ones that plug into the cigarette lighter socket but i don't think those are very strong. You might be able to find a small 2 cycle gas powered one for fairly cheap. in the back of an f-350 it wouldn't take much room but the bronco it might.
I have a bagged lowrider with twin electric compressors by viar. They build up to about 200 psi for my suspension. But you'd need a tank then. They are loud when running but you can mount them pretty much anywhere. Mine are mounted on the frame.
I haven't had a chance to check the Sears link yet. When it's all said and done, I would like something heartier than what I would plug into my lighter. The on board thing sounds like a home made job? Need to check that too. Viar.. I have heard of those. Are there any that don't need a tank and would just work. Time for research more to follow...
The viar is just a compressor so yes you could run an air line right off of it but it nay take a minute to fill up a tire as cfm isn't too high. You can get a smaller tank like 5 gallons and mount under bed on frame
