first question is i have a autometer pyro and i noticed the other day when i was cruising down the highway pulling the tralier and tractor i looked at the pyro to just check on it and it was up at 1600 gave it a little gas and it climbed, knew it was off so i just kept going and looked at it a couple min later and it was back down to 900 were it normally is, i have noticed this a couple of times since then.
question is do the pyro temp sender go bad very often or is it the gauge
second question is
is anyone running the edge insight for a gauge set. i like the idea cause it only cost 300 bucks and will moniter any pid you can with the ford ids, could spend alot of money to get gauges that this will do. will my current pyro sending unit if good work with this module or do i need to buy the edge pyro sender. you think it is worth the extra hundred bucks for the cts over the cs
Where is your gauge grounded and is it grounded with the other gauges? My autometer gauge did something similar to this and it was because it was sharing a ground with the other gauges. I moved the ground near the battery and never had the problem return.
dont remember were it is grounded but its been in the truck for 3 years and no issue will have to see were it is grounded and make sure it has a good connection
I would check that first... Autometer told me it's rarely a gauge issue. Commonly a ground issue. Also it would be worth taking the thermocoupler out of the downpipe and checking it...
For the Edge, why not just get an Aeroforce Scangauge? They're cheaper that the Edge will read all the PCM parameters, reset trouble codes, do CCT and buzz tests and more. Granted the display isn't as big, but they work as well or better IMO.
those are cool saw that in one of my diesel mags the other month but the only thing is a dont have a piller to put gauges in cause they are not made for the 70s trucks, and it looks like you have to but the convertor for the pyro and only thing else is that you can do a buzz test. which is not a big deal to me cause i can just use the ids at work, and i like the edge a little more cause you can see more then 2 pids at once, and it does not cycle threw, i am trying to take all my gauges and put it into one setup, i am needing to get a tach dont have one right now, boost, pyro, ect, eot, icp, B+, and one last one that i would like to see that i cant right now.

It sounds as if the Edge may be a good product for what you're looking for then. Having the IDS at your disposal makes most of the diagnostic capabilities of the SG a non issue, and yes, the Edge will give the ability to display more information at once, so I can see where you're coming from.
would just suggest you do your research before using anything from Edge to flash programs to your PCM. There are all too many guys that have had to have their PCM's re-flashed or replaced because an Edge programmer messed PCM up. As far as using the Edge to just read parameters, I'd say go for it and report back how you like it.
yea the edge cs insight does not have any programs in it. i think they are saleing it this way for the guage purpose. anyone think that my current probe will work with the edge module?
