Hey ya'll any you guys from ohio? I'm located in New Carlisle, Ohio. It's about 20 minutes west of springfield and 20 minutes north of dayton. Tryin' to find some guys and gals out there who have dentsides to hang with, help, and trade parts with. I love when I see a dentside around here but don't know anybody who has then.
It's looking like we're all in different corners of the state so far. I'm in the little town of bristolville. It's about 20 minutes north of Youngstown.
Well, that works perfect for me. I moved closer to Columbus than I have ever lived before. I live in Clarksfield... and so far out of the thousands I have told only 1 has known where it is and that it was even in Ohio. It's called BFE by most. I don't even get to use my zip code enough to remember what it is because we have no post office, so use a mailing address that lists the next town over. But, this is what happens when you are raised in a dump like Lorain. Now I hate the city, even for a visit. I have been around the world twice and found myself right back in Ohio. I like it. As long as I am out of the city. Some things are boring, and the economy sucks a set of chrome dangles... However, when I let my kids play outside... I only have to worry about a few threats. Animals: Not much, maybe a pissed raccoon caught in a corner? Maybe a coyote wandering close? Probably not, but possible. I am always within 100 feet with a loaded Glock19 so really I don't see that as being a high chance scenario. Poisonous insects/reptiles/amphibians/animals... find one. Been here a long time and so far I may have seen a water moccasin once in a swampy area but probably just a black rat snake of sorts. People have said we have Black widows, never seen a variety here... I am a nerd, I pay attention to every living thing around me. Brown recluse?, never seen one here. We have giant jumping spiders that will attack if you poke at them with a stick. Wolf spiders are about the biggest we get up here. Earthquakes are soft and rare. Hurricanes are weak storms when they get this far. Torandos are a real threat here, a good sturdy place to hide and insurance recommended but the odds of your house hit by one is not much better than hitting the mega millions. Flooding is not a significant problem but sh...tuff happens. My #1 concern for my kids is just living by a highway. Cars/trucks flying past... I can never take my eyes off my kids because of that road. I just bought a set of alarm sensors so if my kids open the door without me knowing I can look to make sure they are not sneaking out and running off to play. What if they open the door just to see outside, cat runs out, and you know kids. My lil girl would run after the cat in any direction without looking. So being that the only real fear I have is something that every state has I think Ohio is perfect for my kids.
Don't know why I went on this rant haha... guess I am saying to a bunch of people in Ohio, that reguardless of what is wrong with this state it is a nice place to live with beautiful dentside trucks to look at if you miss seeing mountains lol. There is always a source of water, fruits and veggies grow, deer are plentiful... when the worst happens and the country goes into a real depression I can survive here with my family until things get better. Try that in Texas.
