I kinda read through that thread but it seemed like they were talking about octane and performace additives. I saw a comerical for a product called Bardahl Diesel Injector Cleaner which is to be added every oil change are they the same?

If you want to clean your injectors, do so. I send mine out every 100K. You put crap in your oil and you could screw up your injectors. My Powerstroke and MB injectors are done on that schedule and they test and clean them with a report. That helps you decide if your injectors can stand a longer period between cleans or not.
OTOH, we do need people to stimulate the economy by buying snake oils. When you clean a room, do you blindfold yourself and at the end of it, see a pile of dirt, congratulate yourself on a job well done? I don't. I want to see test results so I know the health of the injectors. I want to know. I don't waste money on "cleaner in a can" any more than those "mechanic in a can" snake oils. I do it right or I don't do it at all.
Here is another reason to use good BIO DIESEL. The bio is an astringant. That means it will clean up the fuel system. I have not heard of any damage to O rings or seals. I am not a green zellot, but if you can keep it clean at the pump and not pay extra for the privilage it sounds good to me.
