I don't remember details like that from that long ago, was too young.

Good call on the semi-floater, I hadn't picked up on that (and would probably explain the purge valve).

That, combined with the hard-to-discern-for-certain picture from Lee, makes me believe it's a F250 advertised by somebody who doesn't know how to read.

I'd still check behind the front hub caps, though.

If it's an F250 then I guess, yes, it could be either a 351M or 400 (I don't think they offered the 400 in the F100/150 but I could be wrong here, too).

Yeah, some pretty knwledgable people here.

I noticed lots of talk of "around here" in that post, could you go HERE and finish filling out your profile so we can all see where you're at when you post?

The cert label is something I might not have recalled either, had it not been for the fact I have dad's 74 sitting in the driveway.....
The bigger dog dishes won't fit on 15" wheels, so I'm betting there's 8 lugs hidden under them.
The 400 could be got in the F150, but neither the 351M or 400 could be had in a F100, as far as I know. I could be wrong on the 400 in the F150 though. I know it was available in the 77-79 F150.

I'm betting it was just a typo by whoever listed the ad, and that it really is a F250, and has the 250 badges

Ah, man I turned into that guy. I might as well ask if y'all think 'rims' will fit on the truck. I thought it had showed up after I registered. Should be fixed now.

And another thing I forgot to mention, the windshield is concerning. Va cars have an inspection date sticker on the window. From what I can see there's no such thing here. It means one of three things; new glass, truck has been off the road some time as a resto, or it's from outside the state. Seen a lll three with these guys.

And yep, I spotted the coupe too. Never saw it come up for sale, so I assume it was a customer. These guys are a huge draw for classic car parts. Still have $1 admission and flat prices. Most of the places in Central Va have gone to full service, with ridiculous prices. I was in this junkyard last week and pulled in idle air valve, some hoses, two window motors, a dash, and a couple wiring pigtails for $48.

I don't know what this place is, but if they are a official business that sells used cars, it's illegal for them to sell a used vehicle in Virginia without a inspection sticker. Now this doesn't mean much sometimes, since they probably have their "buddies" that will just slap one on there, but if this is something you would like to see on the windshield before you buy it, just mention it to them. If they laugh at you, mention the fact that you might just call the state police and see what they have to say about it. They will come right on down and cause a lot of grief for them.

Some ambiguity about whether they adhere to this rule or not. It's Chesterfiel Auto parts. Their cars come from donations, wholesale auctions, and buying Junkers. So most of the cars that sold are run, drive, and inspected within the last year. But they also sell barn finds. Need to go ahead and see the car.

Like the city, I've got an aunt that teaches at Stuarts Draft elm.

Nah, she's 50's and married. Sheri Nelson, teaches 1st grade.

I'd be in for a E and W Va meet up, once I find a truck. Especially if mud is involved.

Yep, I've been looking at that harness connector. The more I blow it up, the harder it is to tell if that's melted or mangled putting it together. The wires between the coil and dizzy are different age and color, wonder if it's a universal fit part they had to jerry-rig.

I come from German cars, so busting out a pocket knife and multimeter doesn't scare me. What I do wonder is if there's a wrong part in there I would have to replace. I'd rather wash my hands than spend $.

When you saw it, any ideas where the damage came from?

the engine might have gotten hot and possibly had that wirring harness touch the engine. I know I have seen that happen before.

Doesn't sound too bad then. Replace the wires to make sure I'm not dropping voltage, and find their correct routing. Thanks Redneck.

you end up buying the truck? I mean jeez all these little problems, window sticker, melted wiring. Its only $800! I dont know if where you live has vehicles with barely any rust but a truck like that would be $2k at least where I am. I wouldve jumped on it right away. Also i dont know which dumb guy said it has an aftermarket steering wheel... its only a cover. The advice I give is if its a good deal and even if it sucks it was a good deal that will. Turn into an ok deal after whatever neede fixing gets fixed. If its something majorly wrong just dont buy it! Simple as that.
