This morning driving into work, I was going up a slight hill and having to pass a slow driver, when I held the pedel almost to the floor, I heard the turbo starting to spin up and all I thought the turbo was going to kick in any second when all of a sudden I heard a thud almost like a flat tire. I pulled to the side of the road, checked tires and all good, poped the hood and took a look, when with my 04 350 SD the CAC pipe that runs underneath the air filter to the intake and slide off the intake, luckily the clamp was still there. I checked everything and put the pipe back on and shes been working fine. I would rather have straight metal pipe from it's connection at the front of the vehicle to it's connection at the intake, but I could understand the rubber flex since motors move.
Should I be worried about anything since the rubber slide off, which I think it wasn't fully tightened, or should I look at something else?
Nope,it happens. When you get a chance, clean the connections real good, spray a little hairspray on the connections and tighten the clamps.
Oil could have caused that, from the CCV going directly into the turbo. Oil fumes from the crankcase soaks the CAC tubes, and they get real weak from it.
Since this has happened, might want to look at all your "rubber" CAC tubes and inspect them for excessive oil build up, and any signs of tearing. Or should I say, shredding.
This past fall, my CAC tube right out of the turbo shredded.
