Swaping CAB AND BOX
I just bought a 78 supercab 3\4 with a 460 4x4
The body on the 4x4 is rusted really bad and I need to get the Cab and Box off of the 2wd and put it on the 4x4 frame
I was wondering if anyone here had a check list of some sort that I could go buy?
I would need to know what to check, unhook, replace, and Any tips that could help aid in this project I know that this is alot to ask for But any help would be great!!
This will be my first big project and I want to get it done right
I have a big Chebby that has been taunting my 2wd supercab and now I am going to get my revenge
Thanks

Better yet if you have a digital camera take many, many pictures. The box is held on by 6 or 8 carriage bolts thru the box into the frame, I cut them off and get new ones but the choice is yours if you want to remove them. The rear lights have a disconnect right behind the bumper. Disconect the fuel hoses to the filler caps. That should be it. Lift it off with the help of a couple of friends.
The cab is a little more involved. Drain the rad. Remove the hood. Remove the fenders. Remove the inner fenders. Start disconnecting and marking wires, heater hoses, steering column at rag joint, fuel lines, brake lines at Master Cylinder, speedo cable either at the dash or the tranny, ground wires, four cab mount bolts, remove seat and doors if you want it to be a little lighter to lift, that should just about cover most of it.
There is probably things I forgot but if you try and lift it off and it feels stuck.....dont yank on it check for something you missed

After all is removed check the cab mount bushings, the brake lines. the fuel lines, all the wiring easy access to replace/repair them with everything off.
Have fun it is a good way to "kill" some time

ps
I forgot to mention you will most likely have to remove the bumpers as well.

I looked under the 4x4 and It is pretty solid. The truck came from Arizona about 5 years ago and the guy used it to push snow and pull the trailer around the farm .The only problem is the cab and box are rusted really bad around the cab corner the drivers floor is gone the whole bottom side of the door are rusted the box is banged up pretty bad and there is not much left
My 2wd is really solid I have a some rust around the rear wheel wells and some infront of the cabcorners ,other wise it is in great shape for being a 78 I have a buddy that does body work and that will get done before the cab and box get put back on
thanks
