Looking for some suggestions. Just got my truck back from the shop after getting new injectors, gauges, filters, batteries, and starter. Ran fine for the past 2 days.
As a pre-curser my truck always hated the mornings. Even in the mild NC weather (40 degree mornings) ever since fall she takes a little while to start. Usually crank it over for 3-4 seconds. let it sit, then crank it again and it fires. Then runs fine even after letting it sit for 8 hours at work. it will always repeat that process the next morning.
This morning however it did not fire. I let the glow plugs warm for long enough, and tried it a dozen times, letting it sit for a minute in between. Having new batteries and starter I hoped to alleviate the starting problem. It puffs out white smoke which I"m assuming is un-burnt fuel. It will sound like it will want to start and jump to 600 rpms then die out.
Stopped messing with it, as I didn't want to fry my batteries and starter. Learned that lesson once.
Glowplugs perhaps? Any other suggestions for me to try this afternoon when I go check on it at my lunch break? I'm hoping the 60 degree high today will be enough to wake it up, but that still leaves me unsure for the morning.
Thanks in advance, I did a quick "no start" seach but stopped looking after a few pages. I hope I'm not repeating a thread here.
Even as a 6 thousand pound paper weight I still love it.
Allright, I tried putting a clamp on each post, and got the same result. I'm learning here, so excuse the dumb questions. I"m assuming that was to tighten down the connections? All the nuts seemed tight to me. I am also making the assumption that just because I'm using jumper cables as clamps I'm not supposed to be hooking them up to the battery as I would imagine that would fry the thing.
Anything else for me to try? Otherwise I'm sending her to my buddies shop tomorrow to have a the diesel tech take a look.
Okay, I'm very happy to hear powerstroke purring again! So now that we established that it worked...what does it mean? Do i need to get a new GPR installed?

Hahahaha LOL. That's the best thing I've heard today
