Ok guys and gals, you all know my girl, Sandy, well she is gonna get mud flaps, I figured and kinda liked the idea more for protecting the cab corners, and I am slowly starting to see hints that things are getting the usual rust and what not, so I figure to slow it and minimize the salt (yea our snow plows are gonna come out im sure of snow (if you want to call it that) is coming tonight or tomorrow...) effects...anyways I have the option of the rubber type that say Ford and have the logo on them (small logo) and sadly I would prefer to get 4 that match but hey its not gonna be a game stopper if they don't all match...I also have the option of getting the diamond plated types, however im not sure if I would like them as I got the bed rails things in diamond plating...so I come to you all to ask your honest humble opinions about this stuff, and just so you guys know if i got the diamond plated ones I would be able to get 4 of them...
I had diamond plates took em off after first winter that fall while in corn fields when backing up they bent and caught tires. That winter when kicking snow off they bent again. So after not haveing any I'm, going to put some rubbers on. If you drive street there fine.
mostly street but I do have plans in the future to try some off roading if I can...so i was thinking rubbers, plus less chance to get rusted ones but you feel rubbers would be best then?
I got my diamond plated ones from Wal Mart. They come in packs of 2. So if you want 4 matching ones, you'll have to buy 2 sets, and they were 40$ a pop here in Canada.
Another good thing, is to get the metal diamond plate ones, then attach a piece of rubber to that, i've always liked that style, and you can go very close to the ground, and still keep it standing straight down, not flopping everywhere.
I have diamond plated mud flaps on the front and rubber flaps on the rear (with the Ford logo). I like the diamond plated flaps better in the winter because when all the road slush builds up on them they don't bend. I have had the rubber flaps catch on the tires and bend forward (toward the wheel well) then you have to pull them back down. The only reason I got the rubber flaps for the rear was because they are wider than the diamond plated flaps.
i would cut a few inches off those ddiamond plate ones. i dunno bout your state but in oregon you have to have flaps at a min of 27 inches from the road . i know they would be a bit less affective but at least you wont bend em while wheeeling
