Oh wait, one last thing. I respect the "Elder" or "Senior" users opinions even if they think my ideas are dumb. They do think of things through their years of experience that us younger guys don't always think about if they are in fact "Elders" or "Seniors" in real life.

Get a Kryptonite rigid bike lock, not the cable because it will obviously stretch. When you park turn your wheels all the way to the left. Install the Kryptonite lock around your pitman arm to your sway bar or sway bar bracket. It's very easy access on mine with the wheel all the way left. They make different lengths of these locks so you may want to measure first. The theif will start your truck but can only go straight or left, no right turns. It has saved a couple of us here in South Texas where our trucks are popular to steal for hauling illegal stuff. Just don't forget to remove it before driving off. However, it won't take you long to realize you can't make right turns. Carry a posty note to tape to your steering wheel or something whenever you use it. Take care and happy Super Dutying.
Interesting idea. I wonder if there's a way you could rig up a chain binder instead. That might be able to get enough pressure and strength that the steering wheel/pump won't move the tie rods at ALL. Maybe modify it with a way to lock the handle down with a pad lock?

Another really cheap way is to just disconnect the ground wire of the battery terminal to the chasis. This way, the thief can't start it unless they were looking for the disconnected wire since the terminals are still attached.

When I first bought my truck in 06, someone tried to break into it, so I devised this little gizmo out of 1/2" and 3/4 6061-T6 aluminum plate that straddles the lever and pedal, and is paddle locked, basically rendering the pedal inoperable.

A few years later, I got in my truck and noticed that someone got in my truck again and started to pop the ignition. They never damaged it to the point of having to replace it. I figured they were ready to pop the ignition and realized that the brake pedal was inoperable, and decided to split the scene rather than try and mess around with my lockout. It may not be pretty, but I know for dang sure it saved my $40,000 truck from ending up in Mexico.

Right after that incident, I decided to have a Ravelco installed. Now I use both. During the day I rely on the Ravelco, however in the evening I slap on the pedal lock in about 5 seconds and call it good. My truck stay parked outside, since it doesn't fit in my garage, so it's an easy target for a thief in the middle of the night. I figure it's better to replace a few locks or windows here and there than an entire truck.

Toneforday. That's awesome man. I'm seriously gonna look into that. I'm a half assed farbricator myself. You're absolutely right, whether it's easy to break or not the theif will see it and take off because it's so odd to them! I really like that!!!!!!!! great Idea. I say patent it. Looks easy to install too. I see you're from New Mexico, so you are in the same region. NM Arizona and Texas, they all end up in Mexico!

It took a little trial and error to get it to fit right, I wanted it to fit loose enough to be able to get it off and on easily, but not so loose that it could be worked off the pedal. When I first made it, it took me a little longer to get it on, but after using it for the past 5 years, I can get put it on and remove it in 5 seconds easily, even in the dark.

Tone, that is awesome. I'm not in an area where I have to worry about it much & my truck is a garage queen most of the time but I would like to make one for when I'm traveling.

Just keep in mind, on forums, most people get to that status by posting messages like "subscribed" or "ditto", so don't rely on it too much.

Ok, wthat's pretty cool. What is it locked to? Couldn't they just lean or wiggle it to the left to disengage the brake pedal or is there something I'm not seeing in the picture?

Your answer is in the 2nd picture. Can't slide it left off the peddle bc his bracket actually goes on the other side as well.

That's what I was not seeing. So it actually clamps to the pedal arm. Pretty cool.

Thanks guys,

There is a slot milled between the to halves that matches the profile of the brake lever, this is what took the longest to make. I wanted it to match very close as to eliminate any play, so it couldn't be twisted or manouvered (spelling?) off. The two halves are pinned together with slipfit pins so the two halves cannot be manipulated or separated as long as the lock is on. I'm sure if a thief wanted it bad enough, they could figure a way to break it off, but that do some considerable damage getting it off.

SMotrs "Just keep in mind, on forums, most people get to that status by posting messages like "subscribed" or "ditto", so don't rely on it too much."

Yeah I know, that's why I added the last part. But my other thinking was "if they have enough time to post 1000 messages in 6 months, they gotta be retired" which makes them my elder by far! hahahahaha.

Tonefordays, that's really a great idea. One question though. Is there a reason why both halves aren't exactly the same? What I mean is, the part milled out around the brake pedal shaft is identical per side yes? Is there a reason why the other side doesn't have a slot for the pedal as well? Great idea, not knocking you. Just curious. Because that thing would seem to be almost bulletproof with both halves going over the pedal!!!!! I like it alot. I think I'm going to build one at work and use it with my Ravelco (don't have it yet) and Kryptonite lock. Arizona Nevada Texas and New Mexico may just have a new way to scare the theives away now. And your invention is out in the open so they can see it. I like it a lot. Good work my man. I like when I start threads and really good ideas get tossed in there for all of us.
