Correct.

Basically, it's outlined in the links below:

Post #9 in here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...rt-thread.html

Post #49 in here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ml#post7685825

The long and short of it is that if you look closely at the actual OASIS report, it clearly says that it's copyrighted by Ford Motor Company. Posting the actual report here as was done above is a copyright violation, at least when it comes to FTE guidelines.

Now if you all want to get OASIS reports run behind the scenes via e-mail, etc., go for it. But they don't need to be posted in this forum.

It was my understanding that the service FTE provided was eliminated, but did an individual ever get in trouble from Ford?

I had access to Ford OASIS for years thru a Ford employee, and for obvious reason, I never let the cat out of the bag. My friend has since left Ford (I really miss having that access), but while he was employed by Ford, through his log-on, I provided many an OASIS report for people, accessing the database at all hours of the day and night, including during hours when it would be obvious to Ford that no employee should be accessing the database.

My buddy was never warned or contacted by Ford in the five years I used his access.

That is understandable. And I think I only posted a report in an open forum once or twice.

Now if you all want to get OASIS reports run behind the scenes via e-mail, etc., go for it. But they don't need to be posted in this forum.
Yep, that's what I did. I'd send an email containing 3 Word documents. The OASIS report, Full Warrantee History, and Detailed Vehicle Specs.

I really miss having that access. It wasn't just OASIS info that the website granted access to. The database had R&R instructions for every single part for every Ford vehicle going back 10 years.

Getting the torque specs alone helped immensely.

Yes it was confirmed. And while I'm not at liberty to discuss the details in open forum, I will say it did happen and that is part of the reason it's no longer offered by FTE.

I guess I should count me and my buddy as lucky, eh?!

I'll be honest, I'm surprised.

It's free from Ford. I had a hard time getting mine because I wasn't spending money with them, just wanted a report. By I chewed on a guy until they gave it to me. But if it's free who cares where it comes from. Although that is a redundant question because obviously someone does care, it's a shame everyone is so sensitive about these things. It's a shame. It really is. A hard working American man can't even help another hard working American man without getting a stern talking to by someone about copyright infringement. FTE isn't even posting it, the user is. Just a shame. I'm very suprised to even see that conversation on here. Govt control all over again. Oh well, CC you're a good dude for helping a guy just to help. You didn't even get anything out of it but moderators squelching the fun. But even if it is copyrighted by Ford, their employess are extensions of Ford. So if the employee is giving it away for free as the dealer would you would think they would appreciate people not clogging up their service depts asking for them.

We had a very well known and respected member here nearly lose his job because of this. Corporate espionage types showed up one day and nearly pulled his access to the system because of the release of proprietary information.

We don't squelch anyone's fun because we are cold-hearted grinches that like to prevent people from helping others. Rules are there for a reason.

I wasn't personally attacking anyone. Just saying it's lame. One moderator didn't even know it was a rule. So obviously it isn't very well broadcasted. And I do understand rules are there for a reason, but with SO many rules about very innocent things it's crazy. Sometimes the rule breakers are neccesary to show people it's really not a big deal and we're not sheep or cattle. Had the guy you speak of stolen 100 bucks from the till he probably would have been fired on the spot. Since he wasn't fired on the spot it wasn't even worth 100 bucks. That's a tank of fuel. That's all I'm saying. No insult intended to anyone and I'm sorry if it was taken that way. My rant was about a much bigger problem in this country and I was just suprised to see it on this forum. Maybe my congressman is reading this!

Nothing stern about it. It's been discussed many times on these forums and a simple use of the search function would have shown that, had there been any question about it having been posted before.

Tom is right about one of our members getting in trouble for it. It's the same member I was referring to in my previous post. Now it may not be an issue for you if this guy had gotten his access pulled, but it is for us and the site. This particular member has helped everyone here in numerous ways in the past. Risking his own livelihood to do so is more than any of us should ask, expect, or request of any member.

Rules are rules and they are indeed here for a reason. We're not in the business of "squelching" any fun but we are charged with looking out for the overall good of the site. When copyrighted material gets posted here and FTE doesn't own the copyright, it reflects badly upon the site. While FTE itself may not have posted the actual material in question, when we allow it to remain without handling it, there's the whole guilt by association thing. Not going to happen.

We're all about members helping others out but there's a line and when it gets crossed, we step in.

Also, a reminder of the site guidelines may be in order:

9. Issues with Moderation and Site Policy. If a situation arises in which you have a problem or conflict with the Moderation Team of FTE or FTE Site Policy, please contact an Administrator through email or private messaging systems rather than in open forum.

Got a problem with site moderation? Right there are the instructions on how to handle it.

As I explained here it wasn't a problem with moderation and wasn't intended as an insult. It was more of a suprise to me to see it here. If I had a problem I would for sure let someone know. The converstation that's going on here seems to be open forum material.

Well we are. Not sure about Ccerniglia and Ford Motor Company. At least I feel I aided the old chap by getting the heat off of him for a bit

Well actually I'm not putting any heat on him. Quite the contrary. I'm trying to keep Ford heat off of him by letting him know that the actual reports aren't to be posted here. The best way to handle them is via PM, e-mail, etc. rather than in open forum.

Very overwhelmed with the random PM's of gratitude and praise. I'm flattered. Y'all just remember my name if you need anything.
