I'd go every 5k. Synthetic is a waste of money imo...
7qts of any of these would do (approved from Ford):
Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil (US) - XO-5W20-QSP (US)
Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil (US) - XO-5W20-QFS (US)
Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Super Premium Motor Oil (Canada) - CXO-5W20–LSP12 (Canada)
Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil (Canada) - CXO-5W-20-LFS12 (Canada) /
WSS-M2C930-A and API Certification Mark

6 months or 7500 miles. There is no benefit from using a GF5 SN 5w20 Synthetic over the lower cost blends (all 5w20 bearing Ford approval is a blend) with the advent of SN last year it narrowed the playing field down and now as UOA's prove the difference is not worth the extra $$$$$$ for synthetic. Besides there is not one "synthetic" you will find today that is a true PAO all of it is GPIII which comes from the same barrel of crude oil as GPII+.

I did my first oil change at 1000 miles on my 2012 F350. 7 quarts of Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-20 with the Motorcraft filter. It cost a whopping $32 at Walmart. I am waiting on moving to a synthetic or different synthetic blend for a little while. I don't beat on the thing and I think its fine to use the Ford products. If its what the manual calls for why not?
BTW much like yourself, I was unsure what to use when I went out to change my oil. When I told my diesel buddies what the oil change cost they were speachless. Now they all want a 6.2

I am doing them every 5000 miles now, next one due this weekend at 10,000. Using Mobil One synthetic. The 6.2 does not take a full 7 quarts, it's more like 6.5, check it after putting in 6 then add the extra needed. There was a thread on here about that, I checked mine and it was overfull, but I'm not going to try to let any out for only 1/2 quart. I know the book says 7 but they need to round up to be safe.

I did my first oil change at around 3,500 miles. I went with 5W-20 full synthetic Royal Purple. My truck is considered a "company vehicle", so my employer pays all maintenance costs for this truck. I figure that the price it costs to bring my truck somewhere to get the oil changed (like most other employees do), it would even out by me purchasing Royal Purple and doing to labor myself. I'm wanting this truck to last a while, so I'm willing to try anything to extend its life.
Are you guys getting the U-joints lubricated every 5,000 miles like the manual suggests?
